Default Vandalized Z51, fixed and modded.

Six weeks or so ago my month old 2016 Z51 was vandalized.
I had been driving it for 4 weeks, putting on less than 1400 miles.

The body shop called Friday, the car is ready! It it was entered in the body shop's car show Saturday and took "Best Exotic".. I found some paint flaws, but they said they would be corrected Monday or Tuesday. They found a bunch of flaws and repainted everything! I picked it up yesterday. It's perfect!

Sooooo... I've been busy.

The DSC MSRC controller was installed while it was in the shop. I haven't pushed it yet, but the "Plush Tour" mode is amazing... it feels like the wife's AWD Cadillac CTS, but handles better.

Installed the factory Aeroplate

Put on the center caps. These are vinyl overlays from eBay. They come in all factory colors. The overlays are in two pieces that fit above and below the flag logo. They're a bit tricky. There's several coats of clear on them now.

Found some engine dress-up black wrinkle paint metal covers, again on eBay. I painted some of the the factory fluid caps Long Beach Red. They all will get painted. Installed a flat Mobil 1 cap, eBay again.

C7 Carbon fiberglass Carbon Flash Z06 style side skirts.

Next Mods:

The vandalism nightmare started the morning I began doing the interior strip-out for the FatMat install. It still needs to be done. I ordered a wire-tuck kit for the engine bay, and some stainless A/C bezels that match the ones on the passenger side. . I love the "smoothie" plenum and coil pack covers, but balk at the price. I ordered plenty of LBR and CF paint. That'll be a near future project.

The best thing I'm gonna do is drive this biotch!

So happy for you that your got your beautiful Corvette fixed! Love the mods..it looks amazing btw! Also hope you have cameras installed so that you can watch your Corvette parked outside your home. Some people are just so evil and are jealous of others and their possessions. Hope that person is miserable with themselves ( dealing with all the guilt after what they did to your Corvette).

Tom,

Your car looks better than ever! Glad you have it back. Quick question about the DSC controller...Did you get the alignment changed to what is recommended? or are you running the stock alignment?

Until MY garage is built (interviewing concrete contractors now) it's being garaged a half mile from my house. A video system for the garage is planned. The garage doors will not be visible from the house, cameras will help prevent me from forgetting to close them.

Matt, Scott was unwilling to remove washers to get to the DSC recommended settings. It's set to factory specs for now.

I was trying to get to the Der Dutchman Cruise In, but "was overcome by events".

No knuckleheads have been identified, probably never will be...

I'm in a Columbus suburb, Grove City.

That shop did very well, and obviously stood behind their work!!! Congrats on the show win. I like what you're doing to the car--tasteful and not over the top (yet, j/k). Drive it in good health.

Thanks. Vic's Body Shop does the repairs for MAG (Midwest Auto Group). They (MAG) sells exotics. I figure if they can fix Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Lamborghini, they can fix my Chevy.

My aesthetic is to go subtle. I like modding, but the bling ain't my thing. I've done very few cosmetic mods on my vehicles over the years, usually I'm all go, no show. This car has plenty of go, so some appearance mods are in order. You won't see anything in the engine bay in chrome or stainless. It'll all be black, Carbon Flash or body color. The craziest I'll get may be some hood liner treatment, but that's a bit down the road.

Well done, looks great. Really like the touches under the hood. Understated elegance. Surprised you didn't dump the fish when you removed the lettering....
