Z06 spats on a Stingray? Anyone do it???
#41
I have a stock (motor) C7 with HRE Flowform wheels on Potenza RE71 tires. This is what happens without spats. Its the consistency of cake frosting. Not pictured, are the **** ton of little black dots all over the fenders after every drive. Definitely thinking about getting them.

The difference is purely cosmetic between the z06 and stingray fenders. The z06 fenders are more concave. But under they are the same. The spats are purely mud guards, if you have excess travel and wide tires, they will rub the same.

Your car looks great. Could you share some close ups where the stage 3 winglets meet the wheel spats. I’ve just put the OEM stage 2/3 side skirts on, there are about half an inch short on both the GS and the Z51. Next week I’m putting the front splitter with the stage 3 winglets and the wheel spats on it. Also will have a stage 2 rear spoiler. My Z51 is white with a carbon stinger and roof (wraps).

So... Spats don't change the location of the edge of the fender, right? Tires that extend beyond the inner edge of the fender will rub under the right conditions, right?
I'm just trying to clarify because someone posted they have z06 width (front and rear) on a stingray and have experienced no issues

Absolutely right. I do not understand how you can run 19/20 inch wheels with Z06 width tires (285/335) without rubbing. I’m running 275/295 Hoosiers on 18 inch wheels right now and have ordered 10/11 width wheels (18 inch) to go to 295/315. I’m told that is the max you can run on a Stingray or a Z51.

I've got them on my Stingray, in CF.
Attachment 48353488
I'd rather have the fender moldings than the tires sticking out. Maybe ZR1 fenders would be better, they don't use the fender moldings.

Thanks, but I must say, I don't want people to think it's a Z06 clone, as it's certainly not. I have Stingray wheel caps, Z51 on the fenders, Stingray on the door sills, Stingray on the badge on the interior, and I never purport it's anything but that.
I added a supercharger and found that the wheels didn't have the traction to match it, so wider rear tires was my preferred solution.
I'm not a fan of the after-market widebody solutions available, so I went with Z06 panels. And if you do Z06 rear quarter panels, you must do Z06 rear bumper and Z06 aperture panels. And if you do Z06 aperture panels, you must do Z06 front fenders.
It wasn't too costly, with the supercharger, headers, methanol, widebody, wheels & tires, and paint, carbon fiber bits, and after selling some of the existing parts, I ended up $8700 in mods. Other than paint, all labor was done by me and my dad, so I saved a lot there.
Anyway, here's my full build thread, there's a lot of pics, so enjoy. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-project.html
