Scenic drive recommendations from BG?
So I'm taking the museum delivery later this summer on the GS and looking for a scenic route from BG to Florida.....this will be my break in and not going to be in a hurry. Anyone do this before and recommend a nice route avoiding interstates as much as possible? Just looking for a nice drive for my son and I.

Have done this on a few occasions. Drive to Chattanooga on I24 then get on state hwy 27 thru Ga. Stay on it till Newnan. Take Hwy 16 across to Hwy 19 south. Take this into Fl. I go this way to Tampa and the roads are great. Minimal traffic and you actually get to see things other than 18 wheelers flying by and throwing debris at you.
Great drive. Have fun and enjoy the trip.

We went to the museum and back on secondary roads using US 19 up along big bend in FL with wide open roads. Close to Ft Bening Ga into Alabama and up and back. All the roads were good and not the hectic interstate traffic. We did do the interstate from Bowling Green to Nashville to see a niece but there are good roads South East of Bowling Green. Route through Troy Alabama and you will see some pretty country. We used the Onstar turn by turn (will be free for a year) told them we wanted to stay off the interstates and got good directions but broke the route uo into segments and not one big trip. Enjoy the drive back.

If you're heading back to Orlando, a fun thing to do is running the Tail of the Dragon!

The nice folks at the museum can give you some turn by turn route sheets of the road tours they use when they have events. These are some really fun and scenic drives. I have done this before and they were glad to assist. Have fun!

FYI, 441 over the mountain is a great twisty road 30 miles up one side, and 30 miles down the other side. And the Blue Ridge Parkway is beautiful any time of the year.

See.....start with the Tail of the Dragon, and then do all that other stuff!

This is GREAT! (Quote Pinto from Animal House). It may work out I will see Hoover Dam on the drive!
Seriously this is good stuff. Gonna definitely use some of it. I'll report back on what do......or just leave the PDR on and post here.

Aero, I forgot to mention this. If you are into NASCAR you can take I-40 out of Asheville to I-85 in Statesville, NC. Then south to Concord, NC (my town) to visit the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and a bunch of race shops close by. There is even Concord Mills (a huge shopping mall with a Bass Pro Shop) a couple miles from the speedway to give the wife an overdose of shopping.
After that it an easy ride (approx 2 hrs) to pick up I-95 in Florence, SC.

If you go east to Corbin, KY, then go south on I-75 to I-40 and head to Asheville, NC. Just outside Asheville head south on Blue Ridge Parkway. (Very twisty with multiple tunnels!) If you are ready for a motel, the Mt. Pisgah Inn on the parkway about 30 mi from Asheville is a great place to stop overnite and enjoy the view and food. Then keep driving south on the parkway to it's end in Cherokee and then head south to do the Tail of The Dragon. Afterwards you have the options of heading towards Atlanta and taking I-75 south, or heading southeast towards Savannah and I-95.

what's the best route to go from Tail of the Dragon to Bowling Green? I'm going to road trip up from Florida. I've got a wedding to go to in Georgia so figured I'd continue the trek north and hit both.

From BG I'll hit 500 miles +/- to get my oil change around Tallahassee and maybe an overnight rest stop. That would allow for some spirited driving from there to Orlando. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good oil change dealer in the Tallahassee area? Dale Jr. Chevrolet?
Thanks.
Thanks.
