Store original wheels or sell when I get new ones?
When I had my 65 I was all about keeping it as original as possible. It was cool, but for the most part it just sat in my garage. I sold it and picked up a 2017 for road trips. The only aesthetic I dont like about my 17 are the satin black wheels with red pinstripe, so Im replacing them with gloss black aftermarket wheels. Question is, what should I do with the original wheels that came with the car? Would they add to the appeal/value when I sell the car i.e., should I sell the original wheels now or hold on to them for resell with the car if/when that day ever comes? Thanks

Personally, I'd keep them as many (like myself) prefer original Corvettes and having the original wheels may be the difference of between an easy sale or not in the future.
Besides, doubt you will get much for them anyway and if sold you will probably have to fool with shipping which is costly and a pain in the *** for wheels.

Sell ‘em. With the number of C7s made (almost 190,000) it’s highly unlikely very many will be collectible for a very long time. The original wheels won’t add any value for several decades, if ever.

I kept my Gloss Black wheels with PSS tires. I doubt they would bring much money and the next owner may want black wheels. They were replaced with Z-51 painted silver which I prefer. And I have a spare set in case my current wheels get damaged. Stored in dry basement they will keep for a long time. The only down side is storing them and taking up space.

Keep them and install different tires for playing, rain or whatever. Take-offs always come in handy.

If you have the space, keep em. Yes the C7 is new, but they are only original once. My dad and I searched many swap meets in the day looking for parts. I guess I am old school original vette type as well, but it’s your car.

I would hang on to them, as Kevin mentioned shipping if you sell is expensive and a pita. If you ever sell your Vette having the original wheels plus a set of aftermarket is nice selling point and who knows you might need them in the future if the mounted ones get damaged in some way.

You never know, the new owner might want them. I'd keep them for the small amount of money you'll get. If you don't have the room then I guess I'd sell them. I have a basement so I would have no problem storing them.

If you have the room to store them, I would recommend keeping them. You never know when something may happen to the wheels on the car and having a spare set will minimize any downtime, plus if you decide to sell you can offer the car with either set of wheels.

Your factory wheels will add no value to the car should you ever decide to sell it

I kept my original wheels and kept spare tires that are down to 4/32 tread. In case I can't get new tires or replace a broken wheel in a reasonable time I can use these temporarily until the new tires or replacement wheel is delivered.

Based on my experience (albeit limited), I agree with all above who suggested that you keep your original wheels.
When I traded in my c6, the dealer wanted my original wheels and was not interested in my aftermarket wheels, as they prefer all original vehicles.
It surprised me given that my aftermarket wheels were arguably better in many respects and had new Michelin tires, vs. my original wheels which needed new tires.
Selling my aftermarket set was a pain given the shipping expense and it was disappointing given how little I was able to sell them for.

Thanks for the responses - and the moderators for cleaning out the off-topic chaff. I appreciate all the input. I’ve held most of these positions at one time or another. Not much $$ to be made in selling now and I can store them. So, I think I’ll do that and keep all options open. Thanks again.

I would agree, keeping them is best if you can store them properly. When trade in time comes, its 100% true that the dealer will want the original wheels. Even if the replacement wheels you buy are of greater quality and value.

The dealer will give you more when you trade in or sell to them but only because they'll use any excuse to knock your price down. Even if you had high quality forged wheels they would knock you down. Then they would sell the car with "high quality forged wheel upgrade" for more. But enough about the dealer. My take would be to keep them if you have room and can afford to keep them. Worst case is you sell them later if the new buyer doesn't want them.
