How many wives enjoy the stick

My wife learned to drive when she was 30. She was afraid of her own shadow. Now she drives a lot more but refuses to learn stick or drive into NJ from PA. She says she would never think of driving my car so why bother. Why the NJ thing, I'll never know.

I am the wife, and the primary driver of the C7. I chose the M7 over the A8 because it wouldn't feel like a sports car with an automatic. My husband had a manual Challenger and my son has a Fiesta ST so our current fleet is all manuals (except our 1969 Buick).

I've been driving for 15 years and I don't want to drive into NJ willingly...

Wife learned to drive on a '57 Chevy with 'three on the tree'. When we were dating she liked driving my '69 Camaro which was manual also. I never had to worry about what to buy because I knew she could handle it. Our first Vette was an automatic C5 but opted to go with the M7 on the C7. She enjoys driving it and has never stalled it unlike me. 😛
On a side note, after getting their drivers license, I taught both daughters how to drive manual transmissions so they could in a pinch. One has only bought automatics, and the other only buys sticks.

My wife loves standard transmission and drives it well. She bought her last 4 cars and ordered stick shift each time. Now she took delivery on a Subaru XV Crosstrek and was angry because she could get it in stick,,,, unless she gave up Navi and sunroof.
Manual shift, in a new car, is becoming increasingly harder to find these days ,,,, go figure

I'm torn on the statement It's not a sports car w/o a stick. I understand but I see the manual transmission going by the wayside. There are lot of sports cars and very expensive cars out there w/o 3 pedals.
When you can get say a 10 speed transmission that is quicker then a manual and gets better gas mileage........ the end is near.
Ironically we love all the automated features in a modern car but still love the stick. Could be nostalgia IDK but as the boomers die off so will the manuals.

Here is what a sports car is and it has nothing to do with the transmission.
A low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving.

50 years ago, as my wife and I were dating and getting to the point that we were destiny, I explained that I was hard core anti-auto. She said, "teach me the clutch".
No slush pumps in our relationship ever.
C7 has M7 and she is the queen of the gearbox. Her ride, 6 sp CooperS.

M7 All the Way!
Last night...prior to completing our order on a 2017 Corvette GS...we test drove the M7 and A8 back-to-back. No question, my wife (and I) chose the M7. My wife is Italian and grew up driving a manual xmsn, so it's already in her blood.

I wouldn't want a Corvette with an automatic transmission. When I went to upgrade from a 15 Z51 to a 16 Z06, my husband tried to talk me into going with an automatic. I told him that since it's my car and he'll never drive it, he has no say!

My wife is quite short and perhaps that accounts for her dislike of my manual. She really has to get up close to the steering wheel to engage the clutch. She doesn't, however, mind me owning a stick as it isn't our only car.

I have multiple friends who wanted a manual tranny, but bought the auto because their wives couldn't drive a stick-shift.
Most are sorry for their decision. Their wives never drive the Corvette.
I'm lucky. Wife can drive the M7. However, as with my friends, she has no interest in driving it.

LOL, well then I guess every modern Ferrari, Lamborghini, & McLaren are not sports cars. And F1 cars well they cannot be a sports car either since none of them have 3 pedals. I admit I would never buy another of any of the cars mentioned since they no longer make three pedal cars, but to say they are not sports cars is going a bit too far.
