Default With guys saying the 2017 GS needs more HP, do you think it happens in 2018 or 2019?

Forum members that state in a lot of GS threads like myself say the 2017 GS needs more HP than the Stingray even if it is only used for bragging rights. Do you guys think GM will add more HP and TOURQE to the GS in 2018 or 2019 to increase sales. If anyone at GM is viewing this forum they could sell a lot of Grand Sports to current Stingray owners just by adding say even 25 HP and 10LB of TOURQE even if it is just for bragging rights. Do you think GM will keep the HP on the GS the same throughout the C7 generation like they did the 2010-2013 C6 Grand Sport?

I dont know what GM has in store to sell more cars, but I'm happy with my Z51.

So many people only can dream about owning a car like the C7. Im grateful for what's right in front of me.

As soon as my 460 HP 2018 GS is built, GM will announce more horsepower....just like when my 2016 Z51was built, just 3 months later GM announced they would be building the GS....

They won't if recent history holds true. The engines in the Corvette and Camaro lines recently have stayed the same, no bump in HP. One can only assume it's to negate the added cost in engineering and to certify.

Dave, you can get more horsepower on your own with an exhaust and CAI!

I totally agree with you 100%!

Yet, I don't see how your post is very relevant to what the OP is asking.

I doubt GM will release a new engine at this point. They seem to be going a simpler route and standardizing around 2 performance engines, a couple truck engines and then a handful for cars.

The history of the GS shows there will be no horsepower bump for the GS. Corvette fans have complained about the HP in the GS since it debuted. Looks nice with the wide body but its still a base corvette.

Its not a "base" Corvette. Also don't forget you can buy the Z07 package. If you like corner carving 1.2 G's is quite impressive.

Look to the left of this post...that's a base Corvette.

I doubt a HP bump. I think we are going to see some different colors from the new paint shop for 2018, hopefully starting with hyper green and volcano orange.

The 1996 GS got a HP bump with an lt4, 20 HP .........also the 2002 Zo6 got a 20 HP bump....So maybe the 2018 GS may get a bump.....I think the introduction of the C8 as well as C7 sales will determine when and if.....jmho

Ah, yes...yet another new thread asking for uneducated guesses from those who have no facts on future products. What's the point?

I just dont see any more HP bump coming in the C7 motors ... I base this on what they did in the C6 Corvettes. its probably cost prohibitive to do this. If any more HP were to arrive I think it would have come with the new 2017 GS.

I really really hope it's gonna be for 2018. I'll be waiting to buy a GS until the do a power bump and give us safety features like blind spot monitoring and lane change alert/assist.

They need a LT7 type engine to put in the GS and Z28. People are obsessing on camaro6 about what engine the Z28 is going to have. I sure hope its a unique NA engine. If not its almost like what's the point of a Z28 as we'll already have a LT1 1LE and a LT4 ZL1.

I'm cool with a LS1>LS6 type transformation even. Give it a more aggressive heads/cam/intake setup and bump it to at least 500. Obviously we'd all prefer a big cube high revving 427ish LS7 replacement, but I"m cool with whatever better NA engine we can get. Build it GM.

A GS with a (big) horsepower bump would be a Z06, wouldn't it? In the last generation GS gave you a different look and more cornering without the costs of more horsepower. The C7 GS is the same idea.

Also, as others have mentioned, I doubt GM would be spending the dollars for recertification of an engine with a modest bump.

Finally, you might say that GS already has its bump since it comes standard with NPP exhaust: five more horsepower than base.

Remember, we were told there would be no C7 GS. So!
