Is a used Corvette C6 Z06 a better buy than a new C7 Z06?
With C6 Z06 models selling for about half of what they used to, is the C6 Z06 a better deal than the C7 Z06?

I'd look at it this way. If you buy a C6Z, you'll probably find more answers to the problems it will have or things you don't like about it since it has been around longer. Expect to pay for those out of pocket.
If you buy a new one, the problems will more than likely be covered by warranty, but you will have to pay the higher initial buy in.
Also depends on what you intend to do with the car. I personally would take a N/A car over a SC car for track purposes. If you aren't going to track the car, just buy the new one and cruise your boulevard covered under warranty.

The C7Z is a far better overall car.
But you won't find another modern large displacement NA V8 that sounds as glorious as the LS7.
Get what flips your skirt and fits your budget.

That's an odd question. If cheap is your prime criterion, then yes.
Anyone going that direction needs to watch out for cars w/ over 20K miles. That's when my LS7 ate a valve. It was a very common problem.

I was thinking that the OP was going to ask if the used C6 ZO6, was a better buy than a new base C7 - until I read the entire thread title.
For my money, and from everything I've read and heard here and elsewhere - I'd say the new base C7, is the better buy.
BTW - IMHO, there's some very good opines on this thread from ppl that have BTDT, having spent the big buck$ on ZO6 C6es. Very pleased to read those - especially!

The "best" buy is an 8 year old Honda Accord.
Before I bought my 2016 Z51, I originally considered a C6 Z06... lots of bang for the buck... but:
Prices were still in the high $40K for a used car with no warranty, and the numbers suggest a stock Z51 has comparable performance, and is a more sophisticated car in every respect.
The C06 is still depreciating, and after 10 months, trade-in on my car is equal to my loan balance, so I'm building equity (slowly) in the car.
I would not criticize anyone buying a C06... great car, but for street-only use, a base C7 is the best of both worlds IMHO.

This was our 2007 C6 Z06 the day we picked it up from the dealer when it was brand new. It was a nice car. We replaced it with a 2016 C7 Z51 3LT. The C7 is a newer car with better features. Both have their place, but the newer C7 is a much better car from a prior C6 Z06 owner's perspective.

(full disclosure: Assuming cost is not an option I'd still take the C7 Z06 hands down every time without a second thought)

If you want to look like a c4 from the rear and a 2003 Malibu on the inside, it might be a great buy for you.
