Default Anybody Have Experience with Weapon X Wide Body Kit?

I'm thinking about getting the Weapon X wide body kit for my '15 Z51 to accommodate wider rims & tires for track use. Does anyone have any experience with the installation, quality and/or looks? Also, any ideas about where to sell my excellent condition original panels? Thanks.

I'm almost certain the WeaponX is OEM, packaged as a whole with everything you need for the conversion. I was going to buy from Ben there, but my shop gave me cost on the parts I needed. Ben is great to work with, though!

That's my Stingray, so same shop for the pic and my comment. It's a local body shop. Owner is a close friend and doesn't usually do custom work. He told me not to tell anyone he was doing it for me. LOL

Parts are a direct fit replacement, no bonding or bolt on over fender stuff. You can do just the rear like a couple guys did or you can do front and rear. I can do custom wheels to go with it. Just rear and I can do x10 and x13, front and rear and I can do X11 and x13.

These are a few examples:

Just rear kit with WXM aero, diffuser, and hood. Greg's white out C7 looks awesome.

Full kit

So are these just the Z06 body panels, or a set of wide body panels that GM offers for the Stingray?

OEM GM Z06 parts.

With the exception of the WeaponX Diffuser.

Anyone wanting to do a wide body conversion on just the aperture panel, rear quarters, and rear bumper cover, notice that there is a slight "mismatch" where the front edge of the aperture panel meets the lower back edge of the front quarter panels. The reason for this is that the Stingray aperture panel is convex there and the Z06 is concave. The part of the front quarter panel that lines up with the aperture panel is also convex on the Stingray but concave on the Z06. It's not a huge deal, and the front quarter can be pulled in a little for optimal fit, but you can see this in the white conversion that Ben posted and in the photo below.

Noticed that immediately and wasn't sure if it was a shadow or not.

So it appears that the following Z06 parts are necessary to do the complete conversion:

Front Fenders
Front Wheel Well Liners

Rear Quarter Panels
Rocker Panels
Rear Wheel Well Liners
Rear Bumper Cover (Wider than Stingray)

And the following Stingray parts stay as they are:

Front Bumper Cover
Rear Lower Valance

Would also need a Z06 rear spoiler (wider) and rear lower valance side vents (different shape and wider)

Did I leave anything out?

JV

Check eBay for pricing guys...
Just picked up 2 z06 quarters and 2 rocker panels that were paint flawed from bowling green for 1500 shipped!!
Just need to get a rear bumper and liners, vents, etc and then paint

You guys that have done it, are you glueing the rockers back on the car or do they bolt back on??

I assume I will destroy the factory rocker pulling it off (that's fine) and just clean the glue residue off

Stingray rocker panel is convex there & the Z06 is concave.

to do a proper conversion > front fenders should be replaced

Aperture panels will be destroyed when removing them. Use factory spec 3M adhesive to install new panels.

I had a local dealership paint/install mine. To make sure the paint matched I had the entire car repainted, especially since i was installing the ACS hood at the same time.

The WeaponX kit is all OEM parts, and yes the old rockers are glued on and have to be cut off in peices. If you are having a shop do this, expect to pay somewhere between $11k-$12k for the kit, paint and installation. Nice thing about having the car repainted is that there is no orange peel whatsoever.
