Default First Corvette at 2K miles (Woohoo!)

Yes, another "first Corvette" thread.

Short Version: Both my wife and I are basically thrilled.

Longer Version: A funny thing happened on my way to buy a Laguna Blue Coupe . . .

I have liked Corvettes since I was a kid (quite a while ago). Looked at them off and on but never pulled the trigger until the C7 came along. Instead I had one of the first Audi tts, a 996 C4S, an then an Audi S5. The S5 was just paid off, and went looking for my first Vette . . .

A few photos below. We decided after having 2 prior convertibles that we really wanted the open feel of a vert. Saw the TR below and bought it after a short test drive. Love the black accents with red. Like the black wheels too (but I have always been more of a Pecan Pie guy than an Apple Pie type . . . )

Random thoughts:
MSRC. The last time I had an adjustable suspension I needed to stop, get out a mirror, lay on the ground, and turn a **** on each of the shocks. So MSRC is somewhat of a treat. You can really feel the difference on a poor road when you go thru the settings. Like Sport around town, Touring out on a long drive.

C7 Interior: Wow, what a change over the past. The sales manager that ordered this car ordered a few things that I did not know were available. Like the two-tone seats--I like the way they tone down the interior red a little. And I appreciate the red stitching that holds is all together.

A8: My 996 was a 6M and my Audi S5 was a DCT. I went with the A8 as I liked the S5 DCT. The funny thing is that I do more paddle shifting with the A8 than I did with the Audi. Personally, I think the 1-2 shift is a little slow but the rest are really fast. It shifts faster than I was able to in a Manual. In auto all the shifts are really fast, and I do not have any problems. If I had one wish it would be that the shift points moved further up when you went into Sport mode, but again, I am very happy overall.

Unexpected: My C4S was pretty exotic. Orient Red, custom wheels, PSS10 suspension. Fancy interior. But seemed boring to drive. The C7 is a hoot! For some reason, with the C7 I have people driving over when I park it to talk to me about it. Harley drivers give me the official wave. I had one nice woman drive 2 blocks just to tell me that, when I signaled, my running light shut off. I like the Corvette community--every Corvette driver gives me a wave out on the road.

Tweaks. Thinking about the Vitesse. Not that stock is bad. My C4S and my S5 had exactly the same HP, but the S5 pedal response was loaded towards the aggressive. It really did make it more fun around town. Of course, I know when I floored it there was not a lot left. Added a Stingray console cover. Also a set of those "leave in place" pucks for jacking. Even the dealer service really liked the pucks.

Went with clear bra (Suntek) on the bumper, partial hood, partial fenders, and a few other places. On TR is is absolutely invisible. Waxed it before these photos, and I had to tape the seams just so I would know where they were.

PS: Resisting a front license plate as long as I can! I see a lot of other MN cars on the road getting away with it . . .

Thanks everyone! Another thing that really strikes me is the value. I mean, this is about the same price as my Audi S5 Cabriolet. But the fun-factor is WAY higher, along with the features, horsepower, esthetics . . .

Sure will! Especially since living in Minnesota reduces the season to about 7-8 months . . . . . .
