Default Racing Yellow - VERY, VERY Disappointed

Went to dealer this morning to initiate getting a new car. I currently have a 2015 C7Z in Velocity Yellow (VY). Previously had a C6Z in VY and a C5 in Millenium Yellow.

Thought it was my imagination so I parked my 2015 VY next to the Racing Yellow and it was not my imagination. A good number of people came over and commented how bad they thought the Racing Yellow looked next to my VY.

In other words, I only buy yellow. Saw the Racing Yellow on a 2016 C7Z and I'm extremely disappointed. I will not buy a car with Racing Yellow. I feel it's terrible. It looks pale/pastel and faded/washed out. In MY opinion it's really bad. Looks like an old washed out and faded Mustang yellow. There is no POP to it.

It really has me depressed as I just loved the prior yellows and would own no other color. Now I don't know what to do. Maybe a McLaren. If I stay with Corvette I think I'll go with Artic White.

I can't believe they would choose this shade of yellow. Atrocious. I'm at a loss as none of the current colors float my boat. White works but just barely.

PLEASE note I'm not trying to start a color fight I'm just sharing MY dilemma. Really, really sucks.

Rick

The new yellow is not as nice as VY. We can only hope they will bring VY back in 2018.

I agree about Racing Yellow. I've seen two C7s with that color and I also felt that it looked muted, especially compared to Velocity Yellow which it replaced.

However I think Arctic White is an excellent alternative. It really pops against the Carbon Flash vents & trim. Add Adrenaline Red and it's a classic Corvette color combo!

The current crop of colors that GM is offering, leave a lot to be desired. I am trying to decide between Admiral Blue (have not seen it in person, yet) and Long Beach Red (premium color). Other manufactures, BMW and Porsche (come to mind) have more desirable selections.

I like Racing Yellow (I feel it's brighter and less taxi-like than some other yellow shades) plus it's the color of the Corvette Racing Team. I also like Velocity Yellow. If I had to choose between two cars in VY and CRY, I'd probably just pick the car with the options I like better.

For me any yellow is better than a lazy color choice Arctic whites are honestly too common among the few Corvettes I've seen here.

It might be instructive to other yellow-lovers to post your side by side pics.

I had a 2008 yellow and several reds so I decided to go with blue this time. Got the Laguna Tintcoat. Glad I got it before they canned that color too.

Agree totally, that's why I ordered the Arctic White exactly like that. We even added the two exposed carbon fiber options because to us it just stands out against the white and really looks killer. Going to finish it off with some carbon black side skirts and a front splitter and will be done with it.

Serious question- do you need to get out of your '15 and into a '16 badly enough to make this an issue, or could you just sidestep it by keeping your '15?

I am not a yellow guy but if I had to choose between these 2; I would choose the C7 yellow. Much better looking in my opinion.
