Default 3LT vs 2LT

Ordering a new Grand Sport but can't see cost justification of 2lt vs 3lt?
You can get 2LT add the nav and PDR and still $3,000 less.
I know 3lt gets better leather and more interior trim on doors and dash but doesn't seem worth $3000
I have 3lt adrenalin red on 2014 and it look great but gettin black this time which make dash and door trim less visible.
Am I missing something?

I did black with yellow stitching in a 3LT but that's because I wanted that Napa leather over the vinyl/pleather finish. Yes, I can tell the grain difference (3LT was definitely smoother and smelled nicer, I know I'm weird :P) and I don't want the interior to be any worse than my current car, a BMW with Napa leather, but it might not matter to you.

If that doesn't matter to you (heck what's another 3k on a 70k+ car), then stick with 2LT but try both in person and see.

Something else that is included in 3LT (not saying it's worth it / not worth it):
Sueded Microfiber-Wrapped Upper Interior Trim Package – includes headliner, visors, trim above windshield and rear window, A-pillar trim and area around quarter window

Edit:
If you're getting Competition Seats, you might as well just get 2LT given the Comp Seats have the 2LT leather instead of what's on the 3LT.

Nope, especially if you're ordering black interior.

As other poster said IF you get Comp Seats you don't get the 3L Napa on the seats benefit. Same thing if you get the transparent top, no upgraded top headliner. I think Comp Seats and Trans Top are two of the must haves. If you get these two, prob value added to stay 2L plus PDR/Nav. BTW the Nav is horrible, you will prob never use it if you use CarPlay or Android Auto.

Godspeed.

Where are you able to build the options for a grandsport? I don't see it on chevy's site.

You can't yet. You kinda have to build it yourself using the price lists posted by the different forum dealerships and using the GM Fleet order guide here - http://bit.ly/2adDEXr

I got 3LT because that's what I wanted, but I didn't ask anybody either.

I have a 15 Stingray. In the past I have always had the 3LT. This time I just didn't think the extra $5000 was worth it. So many items in the 3LT package that I just didn't care for. The last time I looked at how the interior options were going the 2LT was out selling the 3LT. So, It appears I am not alone in my thinking. Since I got mine it appears more and more are taking the 2LT or 2LZ .. But, to each owner, its your car, you order what works best for you ...

I feel the same way. I plan to sell my 2014 3LT with Kalahari interior and get a 2018 or 2019 GS. But they changed the Kalahari and reduced the amount of leather on the dash. My prior 3 Vettes all had black interior. I'll probably go back to black so why spend more money for 3LT. Frankly I don't use NAV that often and when I do need it the Garmin we have that I bought with free updates is just fine. As far as PDR I don't see where I would use it very often and can buy a system to put on the dash if I saw a need.

Bottom Line, the 2LT gives me all the things I need, including Mag Shocks I don't need and don't have now in my Z51 C7 nor had in my Z51 C6.

2LT / 3LT has nothing to do with whether or not the car has magnetic ride control.

To the OP...I went through the very same mental gymnastics before ordering my 2015 coupe. One thing you should consider is the impact of 2LT / 3LT on color distribution in the interior. If you go with a jet black interior it becomes moot since the entire interior will be black regardless of which Preferred Equipment Group you chose. If you choose a different color interior however (e.g. Adrenaline Red or gray), the color distribution will vary depending on which PEG you choose. Generally speaking, 3LT will include more areas in the secondary color than will 2LT.

Another thing to consider is that custom red and custom yellow stitching are available only with 3LT Jet Black.

I strongly encourage you to see and touch both in person. There's no question that the 3LT interior is great. It looks good, smells good, and is pleasing to the touch. Having said that, I feel the same way about the 2LT interior. Though not made of genuine leather, the upper dash and door coverings have real stitching and present themselves very well; there's nothing second rate about it IMO.

As it turned out, BTW, I went with 2LT Jet Black and added navigation. I could have easily coughed up another $3K for the 3LT interior but just couldn't justify the cost for what would have amounted to microsuede trim on the A-pillars, windshield header, and visors plus Napa leather on the upper dash and door panels. It's been nearly two years now and I have no regrets.

What I said was the 2LT GS comes with all I need including Mag Shocks that I don't need! They come on all GS's!

Quoting myself exactly: "Bottom Line, the 2LT gives me all the things I need, including Mag Shocks I don't need and don't have now in my Z51 C7 nor had in my Z51 C6."

You can see for yourself the differences in the 2LT/3LT Mulan vs. Napa leather grain in this thread (thanks to mpuzach):

I love the smell of the leather in the 3LT-is it worth the extra money-probably not-but the entire C7 purchase was based on emotion for me-not value.

I personally really like the upper suede option and as I have the visible CF roof, the suede headliner is a part of that, so for me, there was no other way to go but 3LT.

Everyone always comments on how the doors and dash have such smooth un-grainy leather. The GT seats in the Napa leather are a far better quality in my 2015 than the Comp seats were in my 2014. I'm strictly talking leather visual quality.

In the end it's all a matter of personal preference.

Get what you want. I wanted 3LT, and am pleased with my choice. I don't miss the $3k or whatever extra it cost...though it does make it less likely I'll trade for what I'd like in Admiral Blue because the 3LT premium won't translate into a significantly higher trade in value over a 2LT.

I ordered the 2LT plus nav and got what I really wanted and cheaper than going with the 3LT. To each their own.

Its only worth if you want color on the dash. I would not pay that much for upgraded leather... Especially since I'm getting comp seats and they screw you out of the Napa leather when you opt for that too -_-

Follow Goldilocks. 1LT is too cold. 3LT is too hot. 2LT is just right.

For the difference in money and the extra options I went with the 3LT. I checked a lot of 2LT's vs. 3LT's and the Napa leather is genuine and smoother and has a leather smell. The 3LT also seems to resell better. In the end you will be happy with what you order. I just recommend you go with how you feel or once you receive your C7, you will probably wish you had added whatever option your were thinking about.

It always amazes me all these people buying one vette then another, etc. What I don't understand is if you can drop say $50-70K on a car and then within 2 years buy another one then you must have some money. Why are you fretting about $3K then?

Or perhaps you're simply leasing every 2 years or whatever. Me? This is my ride into the sunset so I bought it, cash, and got everything I wanted. The only thing I didn't get was a move up to a Z06 because I couldn't justify the additional $22k for essentially a machine just about guaranteed to generate more speeding tickets than what I have already!

YMMV
