Default Laguna Blue Calipers by ME and G2

Ordered a paint matched G2 brake caliper paint kit.
I gave it my best shot. Came out okay. Powder coating is out for me, so this was the only alternative.

Nice kit, Good results, My original calipers were black and got lost behind behind the wheels.

So... I'm not really a fan of the black wheel trend. With that said, your choice of wheel design, black mirrors and spoiler, tint, side skirts, splitter, and now the blue calipers have made your Laguna Blue Corvette one of the best looking I've seen. You have great taste and a fantastic looking car.

Thank you very much!!!
That means allot to me.

This was the before when I first picked her up. I didn't like the chrome bits, but I LOVED the carbon flash paint. So I went with carbon flash theme.

Your car looks 10 times better with the black wheels and blue brakes! I thought about doing the calipers in blue also but the yellow has grown on me a bit. Also love all the carbon flash...

I am diggin' the blue calipers. How hard was the prep before painting? And how did you do the white "CORVETTE" lettering?

Yellow does pop from behind those wheels
I like your full stripes as well!

I used this DIY on this forum from VettJazz: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-finally.html

Youtube video from corvettedude:

I did wet sand my calipers as instructed in the DIY and went heavy on the brake cleaner included with the kit. Taped off the rotors and pads. Take your time on the prep work!!

I mixed the paint and went to work. Watch the outside temps and humidity. The paint has to be applied in a certain range 56 - 70 degrees.

The paint gets thick towards the end. It actually started tearing my brushes up. I used 1" foam and better brushes from the hobby store. My foam brush started loosing pieces in the paint. Paint starts to harden in about 3 to 4 hours. 15 min a side and you have 4 sides adds up quickly for time. Definitely a 4 hour job for about 3 coats, with a 4th on the caliper face. See the DIY for more.

Corvette logos are a vinyl decal from :
http://www.towerdecals.com/Chevrolet...-p/c7brake.htm

Up close you can see some of the brush marks and paint flaws, but take a step or 2 back and you cant tell they are there. If your a perfectionist then powder coating is probably better for you.

Overall the kit is good but does have some flaws (my unprofessional opinion). If you accept that going in, you will be happy with the results.
