Really Bad Odor 2016 Stingray Z51
Piked up my 2016 Stingray Z51 7/22/16. After driving home there was an unusual smell in the cabin. Sort of like an obnoxious hot plastic smell.
Certainly not the new car smell I am used to. Today temps in DC 100
the smell was almost too much, had to drive with windows open or I think I might have gotten sick. Any help or suggestions?

PS. I heard having a bag of coffee to absorb the smell might help. Not sure.

Joe if you find out a way to deal with the smell please let me know. I too live in Fairfax, VA and have experienced the smell of the C7s in hot DC weather. My 2017 is expected to come sometime by this week since shipments for have finally started as of today.

Hadn't thought of that. Though, the smell isn't in the car itself at all. Only in the trunk.
Sorry for not searching for this answer, but, if you know, what's the stated life expectancy of the cabin filter?

There are a million threads on this, the smell is super strong and will last for a while depending on how much you drive it.
Mine still smells strong plastic/glue and it's been a year, but I only have 3k miles on it.
If it bothers you too much, take a chit on the floor and it won't smell like plastic anymore.

If you have a safe place to park it in the sun for some time with the windows open that will help dissipate the odor more rapidly. For the first couple of weeks when it was in my garage I parked it with the windows open and by the end of that time the smell was largely gone. It was pretty horrible on the trip back from the museum when it was new and I am glad I didn't pick it up in this hot humid weather when the air conditioning needs to be in recirculate mode for good cooling.

This is what I use on client cars when they have smells or odors. It almost always does the trick. The tough part is usually getting to the A/C box inside the car. You cannot just spray it is in the vents.

No good
For the price paid this should not happen. Chevrolet not smart enough to solve the problem?

You were both helped and entertained. What's not to love?

I actually like the smell. It permeates the entire garage.
I agree w/above... Park it in the sun with the windows down and the top off/down. This should help speed up the dissipation...
As mentioned, there are several other threads on this same topic that might provide a few more suggestions.
