Do I need to replace the belt?

Do I need to replace the belt?
Can really never tell if the dealership is trying to stealership. They told me the belt needs replacing and from what I can see there's a few cracks on the ridges.
Thoughts? About 30k miles on this.

Any noticeable wear and breakage as such usually is a good indicator. However.. you don't have to have the dealership replace it. You can easily save hundreds of dollars calling around and shopping the rates.

Worth the financial cost
Belts also decay over time, not just from wear......get a second opinion if you have doubts, but small superficial cracks can just be the tip pf yee old Iceberg. Could you be burned in this case? yes, but its small potatoes comparted to an engine replacement/rebuild. I'm taking mine in to get fluids changed and a new battery even though she's a '14 with under 18K miles (battery is almost four years old). A few bills, yes. Necessary at this point, as likely not as yes but I don't want to deal with the alternatives. Plus my own mechanical skills would add more harm than good....

If there are a lot of cracks on the belt, then yes, time to replace.

Year, Make and Model is helpful for automotive questions in general. Or fill up the profile. If this is a 2019, that is different from a 2014 car. IF it is a 2014, I'd prefer to change it.
If you don't feel comfortable with the dealer, change the place. If you are prejudiced against dealerships in general and suspect them of being crooks, as in your "stealership" and "can never really tell", you should not have gone to a dealership in the first place.

mine looks to be on the older side with some cracks, i was going to put that on the list.
assuming mine is the original, 16' with 23k. i dont think its a normal thing to replace according to manual interval
oddly it also mentions a check at 150k miles. or every 10 years, whichever comes first. Inspect for fraying, excessive cracking, or damage; replace, if needed.)
also states
"Belts
. Belts may need replacing if they
squeak or show signs of
cracking or splitting.
. Trained dealer technicians have
access to tools and equipment
to inspect the belts and
recommend adjustment or
replacement when necessary."

I also have another rule of thumb. If the mechanic is going to do anything on the engine that requires taking the belt off, I just have them replace it with a new one. There is no cost for the service because that is figured into the original repair.

I had over 100K on my C6 with the OEM belt and tensioner when I helped a friend install a blower on his C6. He gave me his old ones and they're still going strong at 161K with very minor wear.

I am surprised that the belt has cracks after such low miles, my 2010 LaCrosse is still on the original belt with 101k miles with no cracks.
I would get it changed at the earliest, belts are not expensive and I would not get the dealership to do it, find an independent recommended by someone. Are you in Toronto?

Pick up one from NAPA (or such), replace it yourself, and go on.
