New Corvette Grand Sport Hailed as Best Corvette Ever
#21
That's not necessarily Tue. When the z06 came out, there were a few reviewers who preferred the stingray. I myself never considered the z06 myself, but that's because I want the NA V8, so the grand sport would be the perfect vette for me

I vote GrandSport over the Z06 because I prefer the NA over the SC as well.

Yep, GS owners have less than 12 months to enjoy owning the "best Corvette ever."

I don't see it myself. You gain 3" of width and a tenth of a second. And You can get a couple of hash marks if you want. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Go drive a Z06, you might change your mind. It's so much more fun than the NA engine at EVERY speed and EVERY rpm. After driving both, there is no way I would get the heavier GS with the base Stingray engine.

Some still say the ZR1 is the greatest vette ever.

Think about it this way, if I had twice as much money as I have, I would still happily pick a Porsche 911 GT3 or 911 R over a faster 911 Turbo S. Before you tell me you can get the Z06 for the same money as a GS, those are select 2016 Zs that dealers have had sitting on lots for months - dollar-wise great deals sure, but not for people who like to customize their car to their taste. There's a reason they're going to that extent of a rebate given the rumors of changes under the hood for the 2017 Z.
To each his own. That's why there is a Corvette model for every person's taste right from a base no-options 1LT Stingray right up to a Z06 Z07 3LZ with all the carbon and options you can throw at it.

Heavier than the Z06??? It's only 25 lbs more than a Z51, and it weighs less with the Z07 package. I'm not a fan of superchargers.

I love the grand sport - I wish I could just have it with the LT4. Or the Z06 with the Grand Sport wheels.
On another note I think they should have bumped the HP a little with the Grand Sport. Aim it to be like a GT3 RS of Corvettes - bump it up to like 500 HP naturally aspirated. People are starting to see the Corvettes as a real competitor to their European counterparts and I think something like that would have truly solidified that position.
