A/C problem
Did anyone else experience this? I had my roof off on a very hot & humid day with the A/C cranking away. The next time I drove my car I made a quick right turn and water came out the floor vent and soaked my right foot. It also happened a few days later turning into my driveway, this time it was my wife's foot on the passenger side. The car sat for a week and I took it out last night for a little while. When I stopped at a store and got out of the car I noticed water all over the rubber part of the drivers floor mat. I took the car out tonight to go to dinner with my wife and now the A/C wont go on. When you turn the fan **** to high it shows that is on, but no air, not warm or cold is coming out. I tried it on auto also. I put my hand up against the vent to see if the was any cool air.....none at all. I tried turning the temp up and that did nothing either. Any Ideas?

What exactly is the point of that? Trying to cool off the whole Earth? Sure I guess you get an occasional "breeze" of cool air but I really don't think that the A/C was designed to work that way.

I drive with my top off and the AC on in the summer also. I have never experienced what you describe above.

I don't think your problem has anything to do w/ you having the roof off. I run the A/C in my convertible with the top down all the time.
You may have a bad compressor or other system problem, which should be easily handled under warranty.

I run the AC all the time with the top down on my vert... Set the AC to the floor and crank up the seat fan... Its nice to have your back cooled on a hot day!
Never had water that I can remember spitting at me on the floor!

I'm wondering if the condensate drain is blocked. Do you remember if you were seeing condensate on the ground when the car was stopped and idling with the a/c on? If the condensate drain is blocked it may overflow into the ducting and when the car turns cause it to slosh to one side and spill. If it were coolant leaking from the heater core, the odor would tell that story.
My '15 a/c never worked from the factory. I thought the refrigerant had leaked out as all indications inside the car said the a/c was on but no cool air was produced. When I took it in, the tech found that an electrical connector at the compressor was not fully seated. my .02.

Blocked condensate drain. After you get it clear, have the dealer enable "afterblow". This cycles the fan under certain conditions after shutdown, which prevents algae buildup in the condenser, which clogs the drain.

There is a drain outet prob on firewall passenger side where condensation exits. If it is pugged the condensation colects in the evaporator box and eaks onto your footwell area. If u don't c water under car after running ac it is not normal.

I agree with the blocked drain diagnosis. Exactly this same thing happened on my truck. A dirt wasp built a nest inside my drain tube.
Your drain is right above the exhaust on the passenger side.

The blocked drain would explain the water, but the OP also said when he turns the fan to the high setting, no air is moved, warm or cold.

I agree with the blocked or at least partially blocked condensate drain with the problem further compounded by having the top off in very humid weather. This puts a tremendous moisture load on the system while the preferred cooling for hot/humid is top on, windows up, and air control set to recirculate to minimize outside air intrusion.
Standard electric motors don't like getting wet and it sounds like your system drowned either the motor or control board-dealer time to cure both the underlying drain problem and the collateral damage.

Ironically this is very timely. Thanks for posting it Joel. And...thanks to all for the helpful insight. I had the exact same issue for the first time yesterday. I was driving to the beach with the top down and kept feeling large drips of water on my feet. Thanks again.

Your drain could be clogged but more likely unit is freezing up. Trick to unclog, turn fan on high and block all the outlet vents, might work. Or, block outlets and blow air in. Obviously when you see puddle under car, drain is working.

When you park the car after driving with the A/C on, do you hear the sound of the condensate hitting the hot exhaust* - you can hear the water boil off and some makes it to the garage floor. If not, the drain is plugged. Your motor might be toast from taking a bath. I drive my vert with the A/C on and have never had water in the car...
*I hate that GM allowed the condensate to hit the exhaust. Sounds crappy and it can't be good for the long term health of the exhaust system.
