My wife was sitting in her car (non corvette) waiting for a red traffic light to change to green. 3rd car in a 3 car line. A 75 year old man in a Buick plowed into the back or her car and pushed it into the car in front of her. Her air bad deployed. No major injury thank God. Guy got out of his car and said "Oh did I hit you? Understatement of the year. Guy had dementia and should not have been on the road. Sorry about your beautiful car just wanted to let you know you were not the only one who recently had a bad day through no fault of their on.

Several years ago a colleague was stopped at a red light and he was hit so hard he was pushed into the intersection and then hit by another car. When the police asked the at-fault driver for his license he first pulled out a Wal Mart receipt for them and when told that wasn't his license he handed the officer his wallet and told him to find it since he couldn't see that well. There was a well-known DMV facility about 50 miles away that was known to be very senior friendly in terms of passing people with poor vision and other driving issues.

$11k for a bumper, third brake light, difuser and everything that goes on top of them?

Same thing happened to my C7. I was stopped at light and a woman in an suv drove right into me. She said she was turned around talking to her child. They replaced the lower rear fascia, repainted the upper fascia and realigned the rear view camera. $4000.

Update: I'm meeting with the Geico Insurance Adjuster tomorrow morning. State Farm called me today a few hours ago and said that they were able to talk to the girl who hit me and she accepted liability. I'm also meeting with a lawyer tomorrow after the adjuster talks to me. I'm not trying to screw over anyone but, I have to protect myself. I was in a new Corvette with only 11K miles, now even if the car is fixed 100% I'm still gonna be in a new Corvette that has been wrecked and has a bad car fax. So I need to get depreciation value for my car. I hope to have it fixed and put that money towards possibly getting out of the wrecked car and into a 16'. Just sucks

I know your pain, when my 14' got smashed I ordered a 15'. You will never look at this car the same way. Best of luck. Oh, and she better have accepted responsibility. A rear end accident is always the person who hits the others fault.

What happened with the price difference for you with going from 14-15?

Diminished value claim took care of some, but of course I still took a slight hit as the 15's were still just coming out.

If you find a 16' you like, I'd put a deposit down because since the 17's are coming off the line now, you should be able to get a good deal on a 16'. If you try for a 17', you might cringe when you see what you actually lost.

Sorry to see the damage, but glad you're okay.

It was a demo basically. One owner. Had 7500 miles when I bought it beginning of June, now it has 11K miles beginning of Aug.

I have been rear ended FIVE TIMES, three times in Vettes stopped at light/stop sign, the worst was driving 60 in the right hand lane (in an old Corsica which belonged to my son) and we're rear ended by an 18 wheeler doing 90 plus....lucky to be here to mention it.......

Sorry this happened, I got rear ended in January and the total cost to repair was ~$16000 the entire rear tub and frame rail extensions had to be replaced, now I have intermittent issues with the back-up camera and left turn signal. The insurance companies are still duking it out and going to arbitration in September. Best of luck to you in getting it fixed.
