For a short time while I was in college during the late 1970s/early 1980s drive through "beer barns" where the driver could buy beer without leaving the vehicle were popular. The current addiction to electronic pacifiers while driving is at least as stupid and a much more widespread problem.
Although I generally am against questionable injury lawsuits in a case like this I would stick it to the driver as much as possible. This kind of distracted driving is just as dangerous as deciding to have a few stiff mixed drinks and then going for a drive. Rant mode temporarily off.

Same thing happened to me in high school. I had a new 1996 white coupe and a Mexican family in a Ford Focus hit me going 55, I was at a dead stop on a two lane road for the people ahead of me to turn off the road due to on coming traffic. Woke up and the back of my car was completely crushed to the back of my seats and my exhaust was all over the road. Not a fun experience

Melting Slicks
Might be an opportunity to take lemons and make lemonade. Do the new rear monochromatic. All white. My dad went monochromatic with his yellow C7 and I like it. Works best on lighter colors I think.

Here's the good news! You just got a free repair + extra money in your pocket for diminished value. Think of it as getting an extra 5000-10000$ off your Corvette at time of purchase.
It's just rear damage, car will still perform just as good as new after repair.

Sucks!
Yeah, the CarFax will stick with it forever.
Around here in central Florida, I have experienced my share of accidents where the person responsible has no insurance at all. Last time this happened to a relative around here, the person that hit her ran away from their car and left it. He had "borrowed" it. Why have insurance it you have no or a suspended driver's license?

Drifting
Exhaust looks like it took a shot. Make sure you have that checked, too.

Hate to see this my friend. Cars can be fixed, people not so much. Happy no one was hurt. It can be fixed, and no one will know but you. I know, it still hurts.

So this driver coming north is on the phone and drifting like 3 feet into my lane for like 3 or 4 car lengths. I came to a full stop in my lane and laid on the horn to get everyones attention, which I did. The pedestrian had no clue what was about to happen. With no place to go that was my course of action. The other driver woke up just in time to recover her lane and waved at me just as she passed.
Even a head-on at 40 mph could have been a wipe-out.
Sorry for your disgusting loss. Hope her insurance rate doubles.
Carfax will learn soon enough. Dealers at trade-in will know. We already know.

So sorry. It wouldn't be any better at two years, but less then two months really sucks.

That's unfortunate. When driving I notice that at least half the other drivers are talking on phones or texting... and it's only getting worse. Hope that you're OK. The car can be fixed.
