Same thing here - car was at 2nd dealer (Mac Haik) who replaced torque converter - kept me updated with text messages almost every day (even if only to say no work had been done that day) and returned the car to me in pristine condition. Also got oil changed ( they knew the Z51 gets 3 free oil changes without me having to explain it to them unlike previous dealer) and the Android Auto update. They will be getting my future business.

Keith, lead vette tech at Autonation in Orlando replaced my A8 with 100 miles on the clock - did it in a day and a half. Perfection!
Hope it stays fixed once the warranty is out.

Same here. In Plano Texas, Huffines service department is TOPS in my book. They did a flawless stator replacement. Its a shame the fix did not cure the issue, but that is not the service guys fault. Its going back in tomorrow for an evaluation. They are on my side, but are limited to what GM tech support will allow.
Wish me luck.

There are plenty of good service departments and techs out there, just seldom hear about them. The bad ones get plenty of ink though. Replacing a torque converter is nothing but taking a lot of parts off and putting them back on properly, takes some time but nothing a decent tech cant handle.

Service Dept. Mgr. is super and he has very good, knowledgeable vette techs. that take their job seriously. Our TC replacement took 1 week (including shipping of TC to dealership) and car was flawless when we picked it up.

I have had nothing but great service from my local dealer here in Houston. Lonestar Chevrolet is one of the good ones IMO. They restrict some of their reps and do not allow them to deal with Corvettes, apparently you have to graduate from some type of internal process they have.

Good to hear there are dealers with quality service departments for Corvettes. Also nice to hear that folks are getting their A8s repaired properly.

Question on the torque converter replacements. Is it a different design or updated version? Just curious as to what would keep the new one from failing again. Thanks for the tips on good service places. I'm in Austin but would be willing to take it to Houston or Dallas to get the right dealer service experience

"Question 2) The service bulletin you cite says to perform a double oil flush if you suspect that the trans is exhibiting TCC (torque converter clutch) shudder. That procedure has been successful in fixing a few vehicles. This has primarily been a truck issue, pretty rare on Corvette. The bulletin is now being updated to have the converters replaced instead of just a flush since it has not been 100% effective. So the bottom line is if customers are not having any problems, they shouldn’t worry about that document. In the rare instance where there is truly a torque converter problem, there is new design that should help. That hardware became available in December of 2015. I want to make sure customers with the prior design understand that if there is an issue, symptoms will appear early in the car’s life. The design change was not to improve the performance of the car or it’s durability over the long term. Bottom line is that if customers are not having a problem now, it is very unlikely to occur later."

Have used them exclusively for the past 15 years - 3 Corvettes: C4, C6, and now my C7 - I have to drive almost 70 miles for them to do service, passing half a dozen other dealerships...

I use Huffines in Lewisville, but do agree with the Huffines group being great to deal with. Michael the fleet sales manager and Mike & Brian in service are as good as they come.
