Default Do you like your suede steering wheel?

My GS is stuck at 1100 here and don't even have a target production month. So I'm considering adding the competition seats which I am convinced are a worthy upgrade. However they force a suede steering wheel. Unsure about this.

After using one when I was at Spring Mountain I realized I wasn't crazy about it. So ordered a leather one from Cultragperf and had the one on my new GS changed out before I ever picked up the car. So if you don't like it, $300 will get you a leather wrapped wheel.

I originally didn't want one but it was a forced option with my comp seats with inserts. After driving it for awhile I love it, the material provides great grip with little pressure.

I'm still in a holding pattern waiting to order my C7. That said, I once drove a friend's car which had a suede style wheel. In a word, I hated it, okay three words.

I thought it just felt cheap. I also imagined what it would feel like and smell like after a few to many trips to the gym; and I sweat like broken faucet.

No thanks.

Or course, this is JMTC.

I swapped out my D bottom leather for a D sued wheel and love it. I'm not a "sweater" so no issues there. Nice feel in your hands.

I too swapped in a D-bottom suede wheel and LOVE it. It's never hot or cold. Feels nice in my hands.

Thought I'd hate mine, actually enjoy it. Still worried it will look pretty blah in the near future

I love the "suede" steering wheel. I wear suede palm racing gloves, and on the track, grip on the wheel is perfect.

I have it, love the suede comp seats. But i would prefer the steering wheel didnt have it. Only because i see it wearing out faster.

i bought a new one from gm to replace the stock leather on my c6 and the gear shift **** also. i would've kept going but cost started mounting and i had other wants lol..

i love it, i also have a cover i grabbed off of a volvo suv a friend bought before they pulled the wrapper off for dirty hand times, it's perfect for that..

sonax stuff is amazing. makes the wheel brand new so fear not... enjoy

i can only attest to the sonax stuff i witnessed a matted nasty alcantara wheel i thought was worn leather lol and it came out UNREAL...

Ordered Competition Seats with Microsuede Inserts on Z51 2LT. Was stuck receiving fuzzy wheel and shifter **** too.

Immediately replaced both on my second day of ownership. Couldn't be happier with the interior now.

The other thing I didn't like is how everything else is stitched in white, but not the suede **** or boot.

Love my suede wheel. Great grip. Never hot. Feels special.

They don't wear out. If they start to look matted down, get some Sonax microfiber cleaner and a microfiber towel to spruce it back up. Easy.

I had one for ten years in an M3, just like the one in the video above, and was able to keep it in good shape, but washing your hand every time you get in the car, or wearing gloves isn't always practical.
It felt great though.
I doubt it would be an option I would want again in a vehicle I was going to keep for a long time.

Don't waste your time on that. The OEM wheel should be swapped out if you want to attain a "better" look. No matter the material, the design of the OEM wheel is poor.

I suggest looking into a Carvaggio Steering Wheel like mine below. (Google for more pictures)

I swapped out my leather wheel for a suede one and absolutely love it. It feels good in my hands, looks sporty, and doesn't have the light gray contrasting stitching on the jet black leather that I didn't like about my factory leather wheel. It just looked hokey, and felt slippery and hard in my hands. The suede is not slippery at all, and has just a little "give" under pressure.

Great grip for the track, but looks and feels gross imo.

There wasn't a suede option when I got my early '14 C7, but I have the suede wheel on my '15 Caddy ATS and like it. It has 13,000 miles (daily driver) and still looks new. I was apprehensive about it holding up but so far am pleased.
