Ok, On the second page, it's not clear as to what your random comment was in reference to.
and you point out my correcting (editing) myself? Thanks.

i would really like to see a picture of a C7 vert with that trunk rack. Last year, I loaded my miata, with trunk rank, and spent 3 weeks riding around Colorado. We camped every night. The miata left this past week for the vette. we will be taking the vette on a camping trip to west va in a couple weeks.

I cruise at 80. With the top down, it is difficult to:
  • talk to the wife
  • talk on the phone
  • listen to the radio
  • Not get sunburned on a summer day
  • Not get wet on a rainy day
  • stay warm on a cold day
  • stay cool on a 100+ day
  • wifes hair gets blown around at 80 (this one is important for the "WHY")

I stated that luggage shown, fits in my car. My statement is fact.

I travel with the top up. When I get where I'm going, I unload my stuff and the top goes down as often as possible while I'm visiting.

Simple as that.

You can't flat tow a Corvette, and dragging a trailer around, and storing it, etc., when you're traveling long-distances is a drag.
True that ........ Somewhere in one of the storage sheds is the tow bar I removed from the last CJ7 that I traded for another Corvette.

Here's 2 views of what I can fit into the trunk of my car and STILL have room for small odds and ends...

The light green bag is full of clothes, the 2 suitcases are full, the computer case has my laptop and assorted meeces and cords and stuff, the camera case is stuffed full of all the needed (sorta) lenses and junk.

We also carry a snack cooler in the passenger foot well for some snacks and drinks.

Convertibles can carry stuff if you know how to play tetris!

The only problem that keeps me out of a C7.......the wife has to have her golf clubs when we travel! So its keep the C6 GS coupe..now thats a real problem... NOT!

Happy Anniversary Elmer. I too get a little laugh when I hear, "you can't travel in a convertible". We have taken our C6, and the C7 is next, on several long road trips of 3 weeks. You are correct, it is a game of tetris when you get to the motel. However, I can pack the next day, put the top down, and hit the road. We do use the soft sided duffel type bags. Those things hold a ton of stuff.

BTW Skid Row Joe, we have also been on a cross country Route 66 trip. No luggage rack needed.

Hello? This is a discussion about convertibles, not coupes.

It's the weather ............. I do agree though. I've never had any issue packing my drop tops. That is why I am seriously considering going back to one. I miss it.

We were in Hannibal, Mo a couple of weeks ago for a large All Corvette Car Show and a C3 with a really neat smaller trailer(probably for a motorcycle) was attached to his car.

When we left for a dinner cruise on the Mississippi river that evening, his Corvette was gone(I assumed that he had left to go to dinner). But, the little trailer was still in the motel's parking lot, and it was chained to a light pole.

I see a lot of motorcycles in the national parks, etc with the little trailers, so they must not be that much trouble to use on a road trip. With the trailer, you can carry just about anything(within reason) with you, and still put the top down.

Problem is, no one has made a commercial hitch for the C7. Curt has declined to do so.

Thanks for pointing out another reason for driving a C1 through C6 Corvette.

SOFT luggage will give you literally twice the clothes. DITCH THE ROLLER BAGS. Most of that space goes to frame. Duffles Rule the Road!

Don't be afraid to buy stuff and have it shipped rather than lug it with you.

This includes rugs. and wine.

Never park your car like that. Park straight in, within the lines. How rude!

Yep, it produces the opposite of what is intended. Your car is far more likely to be damaged because it really pisses people off.

Instead of all the innuendo and accusations, can someone simply post a few pictures of a packed C7 convertible trunk? You don't have to pack the bags, just show the layout. The lack of primary communication skills on this board is epic sometimes.

If Elmer can get two carry-on size bags in the trunk, that should be sufficient for any weekend trip. If you can stuff some soft-sided duffels in as well, that would be a bonus.

Thank you in advance.

Sure, I just now stuffed two airline-legal carry on bags in my C7 convertible, and as can be seen there's still room for things on top of the bags, and you can't see it, but there's still a sizable space under the area where the top folds, for shoes, laptop bags, etc.
