Default Convertibles can't dooooooooo luggage!!

I'm tired of the idea that you can't carry luggage in a convertible.

Here's 2 views of what I can fit into the trunk of my car and STILL have room for small odds and ends...

The light green bag is full of clothes, the 2 suitcases are full, the computer case has my laptop and assorted meeces and cords and stuff, the camera case is stuffed full of all the needed (sorta) lenses and junk.

We also carry a snack cooler in the passenger foot well for some snacks and drinks.

Convertibles can carry stuff if you know how to play tetris!

I have two suitcases just like yours. I believe they are the same size, which is the max for carry-on with the airlines. Only difference is mine are purple. A couple of weeks ago I took my two cases to a dealer who had (and still has) a C7 vert to test them. I was able to get the suitcases into the trunk horizontally, i.e.: On the long axis side by side by a concerted effort with absolutely no room left over. It is a VERY tight fit. This is with the top down. I stupidly did not put the top up to try again. I suppose you could get a laptop behind a seat

So, Elmer. Are you seriously telling mine you can magically manufacture the extra cubic inches to get all you pictured into the trunk with the top down? If that's the case, please do a video and show us exactly how all that stuff fit into your trunk.

Never said I put the top down when I travel at 80 MPH on the interstate for 12 hours. Convertibles are top down when you get there or when you get home. Traveling to and fro is top up and I use all of the space for the top storage that the car can give.

Piece of cake. I'll do it later. Right now, I'm taking my bride, of 49 years today, for a quiet dinner for 2 at the Bonefish Grill.

So the truth comes out. You can only do it with the top up. Gotcha.

I saw a post on here showing a nice looking chrome detachable luggage rack that fit on the trunk of a C7 & C6. Not sure who sells it or how much it cost but if you like to travel with you convertible a lot this would be nice to have!

How does your wife feel about traveling with a "snack cooler" in the passenger footwell? Where does her purse go?

If she carried one, there's room in the trunk!

If she doesn't, or it's small, congratulations all over again. The stuff my wife wants to haul around is un-friggin-believable! Just to give you an idea; She has 105 pairs of shoes and claims she actually doesn't shop for them: They "find" her.

My wife and I have no trouble packing our vert for 5 days in Vegas.
Top up on Hwy 15. Top down when we hit The Strip.

Exactly what I was thinking too. Good catch.

What he might want to do, is affix a permanent luggage rack on the trunk lid, ala Martin Milner's Corvette convertible did in the TV series Route 66. Then he could go top down all the time with luggage.

That's because I ain't packing any luggage to go any where!

The bag is full when we use it but it still fits.

Can't put the top down on a coupe and load the back up either!

Why not top down all the way? It's a vert!

Me and the wife did 10 days to dc from orlando. Few days up and several days back. Put the top down every morning with our luggage in the trunk. It was great trip and did A1A on the last day. It can be done with carry on luggage and using the little bit of extra space for shoes and such.

A luggage rack might look pretty sharp on a C7 vert - but I certainly hear ya, I'm not crazy about racks either........

On my vert my wife packs a bunch of clothes in those bags that you use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the air. They slide up under the convertible top shield. We can travel with the top down if we wish.
