Default D bottom wheel on 2015 - options

My dealer says that GM does not make a D bottom steering wheel that will fit my 2015 Z51 M7.
Further that the 2016 wheels have differerent air bag connectors and will not retrofit to the 2015 wiring.

Any thoughts or options.

I'm not in the market for a $1500 steering wheel but like the flat bottom wheels.

Regards,

This is true, your dealer is an idiot.
You want one order it from Cultrag Performance, a supporting vendor for the forum.

They were too lazy to find out for sure so they gave you the answer that would save them the headache IF it were true of you coming back and saying its their fault.

I have first hand experience and agree with everyone else. Yep, your dealer doesn't know what he's talking about.

You can even swap out the paddles depending on which wheel you order. When we did my dad's 15, we had to swap out the M7 ARM paddles on the D wheel for the A8 paddles on his stock wheel. Actually pretty easy.

Your dealer is lying to you.

A 2016 flat bottom Competition suede wheel fit my 1LT 2015 perfectly. The centers of the wheels are all the same, just the shape (round or D), covering and paddles (M7 or A8) are different.

But see next post for 2017 C7s.

I wanted to let everyone know that GM changed the adapter for the hornpad on 2017s. I purchased a Caravaggio Steering wheel and the dealership had to swap the little wiring harness from OEM wheel to my custom one. John said its a 10min job, but my dealership (Criswell) gave me a lot of **** for making them do it, claiming that it was a pain in the butt.

Just an FYI for those who are considering steering wheel swaps.
