Damage to seat from Conceal Carry
#41
Never had that problem and after careful consideration I have determined that the reason I don't have that problem is because I am not dumb enough to have a gun in my beautiful sports car. For the record, I have no issues with guns.

OP you're going to probably have to find a different tuckable holster that brings your gun forward. I have yet to be in my C7 without my weapon. I'm a Federal Agent with DHS and am required to carry my weapon at all times. I now have to carry in the abdomen when I'm in the car. Find a comfortable nylon holster like a DeSantis and try different positions. I think the seats are to tight for a side carry. And no I'm not fat!!

I’m had a strange issue on my 2016 within the first 1000 miles / 2 months. The seat developed a noticeable crease in the leather where my normal conceal-carry firearm hits the seat. (Carry IWB @ 4o-clock position)
I can’t believe the seat is showing this very noticeable wear after only 1000 miles driven. I have CCWed the exact same firearm in the same position on my other cars (including a C5 Corvette) for tens of thousands of miles without any issue.
What is specific about these seats that they are showing advanced wear so quickly? Has anyone else had similar issues? Any suggestions on how to avoid this issue in the future? I have the 2LT interior, if it matters.

2015 C7 of the Year Finalist
Actually, I weigh the same as I did back in college. What I find strange is that it's creased the C7 after 1000 miles, while no obvious wear on my C5 after 60,000 miles and other cars with even more miles. Obviously the handle presses into the seat slightly, but on every other car I've driven, it does no damage. Just curious if anyone else here had similar problems. It appears these seats in the C7 may be much more prone to damage. Oh, and the handle is plastic on this small subcompact.
Always has to be someone who hates the Constitution and our freedoms... But this is a question regarding C7 seats, not anyone's disdain for the Bill of Rights.
Good option. I assume that position is not viewable from outside the car?

From the OP's experience, using the power of clever deduction, isn't it obvious that C7's are now being manufactured by sinister liberal folk (brilliantly hiding in plain sight in Kentucky) who secretly want to repeal the Second Amendment, and, since that doesn't appear likely to happen, these nefarious nabobs of non-violence, acting out their secret frustration, have found yet another way to harass and torment decent, peaceful, law-abiding people who simply want to exercise their rights to sit on their, er, guns, in their Corvettes. What a clever stratagem -- leather seats carefully designed to remain indented (??) only by guns. I can see it now, a new slogan, perhaps a new way of understanding gun rights -- "Don't sit on your Second Amendment rights! Sit On Your Gun!"
I say, smoke these villains out! File a warranty claim. Take it up the line. Roof creak and harmonic balancer problems are nothing compared to the leather indentation made by a sat-upon firearm. Where's Customer Care when you really need them? What's taking the forum Chevy rep so long??

AviBen,
Well done, my friend.
Anyone with a keen appreciation for wit, should have found that at least amusing regardless of political beliefs.

My Springfield Armory XDM Mod2 w/16 round double stack mag and a spare 16 round double stack mag fit very nicely in the center console. Oh yeah, one round in the chamber at all times except for cleaning ................ ymmv

How about these ideas.....
Mount the holster somewhere under the dash where you have easy access. If younare right handed, mount a left handed holster so when mounted upside down, you are still able to draw "right handed". A right handed holster mounted upside down may cause you to turn your wrist in an odd angle when drawing.
Mount the holster somehow on the backside of the passenger seat within reach. Perhaps an upholsterer can remove the seat leather and sew in a gun pocket/holster
I like the idea of the door and the center console without holster too

My Taurus Slim .40 carry weapon fits perfect, in its holster, in the door pocket so it's right next to me. It fits in the cubby behind the screen as well but is easier to get to in the door pocket.
A few here need to buy a new sense of humor because they obviously lost theirs long ago.

I am really enjoying this thread!
I don't carry but I am good with rifles, shotguns and pistols but don't feel the need to carry while in my car.
The OP's post about fast wear on the seat is very valid to him and his concern is warranted. The C7 seat is tighter and not nearly as wide as the C5 so the position where the weapon is located will present an opportunity for unusual wear. Although I am sure that GM never considered this particular problem I feel certain that warranty will cover the replacement of the seat cover.
And I would think that eboggs jkvl's suggestion of a carry holster under the dash is maybe the best solution that has been suggested in this thread.
But, please folks, keep posting...I need the chuckles, thank you so much.

Some gun in car thoughts...
Firearms without a round in the chamber make good paperweights.
To the OP - as someone who has toted a gun for more than 50 years I'm surprised that you're surprised that your seat is creased - yes, I read about your previous experience.
To the poster that suggested an ankle holster - about 98% useless inside the car.
I do understand the OP wants to keep his pistol on his person... simply find a better position.... you'll come up with a solution.... cross draw work for you?

Pull from Holster & put in something like a Uncle Mike's Nylon Open-Top Inside-The-Pocket Holster. It will fit nicely between the Seat Belt on right side and the carpet of the center console.
