Need help deciding.......2017 Corvette Grand Sport OR 2017 BMW M3

I owned a BMW 335I and many Corvettes. BMW is a great road car, but if you plan to keep the car over 100K miles, be prepared to pay through the tooth for repairs of the BMW. It seems once the BMW reaches about 70K miles, minor things, still very expensive for parts and labor, start becoming more frequent as you put on more miles. Corvette parts are relatively, inexpensive compared to BMW, and labor for BMW is way over priced, you pay for that coffee and muffins at the dealership, many times over. Glad I owned a BMW, enjoyed it, but NEVER AGAIN, will I buy one. Still its a very respected and great car, just not my cup of tea, especially the expense associated with ownership.

Look at it like this...
with the BMW you will always end up having to bring the kids, and you will have to drive safer and more responsilby and not have fun.
With the Vette, you CAN't bring the kids, therefore are allowed to have more fun.

DickieDoo has the right idea. I'm a strong believer in a toy car. Have a business/family/ bad weather car, and a fun car if at all possible. Use the vette when you drive to work alone, or want to go for a cruise or a date. Use the Camry when there's a snowstorm or cyclone, or when your kids need to fall asleep with an ice cream cone in their hands.

great cars but once the warranty is done, run to the dealer and get rid of those German poop boxes. Good thing you don't own a s550 there 2 batteries cost over a grand.

I came from owning an Audi (and a BMW before that). This is my first vette and I felt I was taking a huge risk of some sort by not purchasing another European car.
All I can say is every car enthusiast needs to own a vette at some point in their life or they're missing out.

Op, you have the sedan covered.
I came from a M3, almost bought a M4, but lucky for me I test drove the Vette.
Personally, I have much more fun in my C7.
Which would you rather drive?

Another point: The Grand Sport while a great car is not the only Corvette available. If you have been driving a 4 door Suv (x5) up until now, that says maybe your driving style doesn't make you a Grand Sport sort of person? If you never track the car, will you ever notice the difference between a Grand Sport and a Z51? Or a base model for that matter. I've got a 2014 Z51 and where I live (Minnesota) short of going to a track, there is no place I can go where I can get anywhere remotely close to the Car's potential without being at "go to jail" speed. Also, if the back seat is important, have you considered a Camaro?
No one can decide for you anyway. You could buy any number of cheapish cars that would get you and the family from point A to point B economically. Considering any of the cars in question is purely a matter of want anyway so it is by definition an emotional decision. Seeking logic in it is fruitless. I just wanted a Corvette and I could afford it so I got it.

So now I only want a Vette and grand sport is the most balanced models of all three, I feel.

I'd get the M3. So your kids can come along and enjoy it too.
This is coming from someone who has owned many Z06's and love them.

I guess it depends on the kid. We have to beg my kid to go for a ride and get ice cream on a pretty night in our convertible. She hunkers down in the back with her head buried in a book, reading by flashlight!

If I bought an M3, it would have that carbon fiber roof both for looks and performance, not even a sunroof. My kids are spoiled with that panoramic roof of X5. There's no way they will enjoy sitting in back in that dark dungeon.
One of the kids is in KG and other one is only an year and a half old. I can at least take the older one in front seat for short safe rides.....its legal if you have proper car seat which here would be a booster seat. I have transparent roof on the order list and even that can come off. School is less than a mile away and I'll be one cool dad.....

That's what I noticed about German branded vehicles...overpriced service and overpriced parts. The Porsche dealer wanted $400 for an alignment (why you ask....I was told that it's a 4-wheel alignment----WoW!!!!) & let's not forget the $500 oil change).
