About that chrome strip across the front grill...
What solutions are there to, let's say, get rid of it? I've got a 2016 Stingray Z51 with those cameras in the front.
My grandson was photographing my car this afternoon and mentioned, with all honesty, that it looked like a retainer. He loved everything else about it and could hardly stop raving about it. I couldn't disagree as I'd been thinking about trying to do something about it since I've had it.
Has anybody painted it or replaced it or anything else to get rid of the 'retainer' look?
Pictures appreciated.

I am obviously in the minority on this issue but the chrome srip on the grill looks fine to me.
After a car magazine commented on how it looked like a retainer, the threads/post barrage began on how to replace it, cover it, etc.
Soon I may have one of the remaining C7s with the so called chrome retainer.

For 2016 and you got the black emblem package you got the grill with no chrome trim. I still am going to change the grill and get the Z06 grill.

I have no clue why gm didn't use the z06 grill in Botha. The stingray grill looks like a caddy part, looks horrible and screams cheap, even the 2016 look horrible! Replace it with a z06 and be done, much more aggressive and how the car is suppose to look!!!!!

Wrap it for the carbon fiber look, paint it, plastidip it, or replace it. Your money, your choice.

OP: I have to agree with your grandson about the chrome strip. With that said, I think the stingray grille looks fine with the chrome trim blacked out. For ***** & giggles, I put black electrical tape over it just to see how it would look blacked out and low and behold the electrical tape looked good as is and I had heard of others having success with it. So I've kept it on there for now. While I like the Z06 grille, from a distance, it's hard to tell which grille the car has if you're comparing a blacked out stingray grille to the Z06 grille.
Here's said grille with electrical tape covering the chrome:

Replace with Z06 grill, they are the same size. Trunk Monkey Vendor (Subchev) sells the version with front cameras for $400.00 shipped.
It is a direct replacement, plug and play. You can DIY or have dealership swap for you.
Description:2015 2016 C7 CORVETTE GENUINE GM C7 Z06 GRILLE CARBON FLASH WITH FRONT CAMERAS

Here is my Z51 right off the delivery trunk with blacked out grill. Then another one after the swap and ACS side skirts installed:

But the increased air flow using a Z06 grill is a reason to change.

My car is black with chrome wheels. The chrome strip looks just fine. Most people cant even tell one year or model Corvette from another so my guess is that only another owner would even have a clue about the grills.
