Trip to Black Hills, South Dakota
A friend and I took a trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota this past week. Approximately 1600 miles of driving. Averaged 32.8 mpg. Great ride. Driving the Spearfish Canyon and the Needles Highway was an absolute blast. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in 'challenge" driving. Loads of fun with the "pig tail curves."

We were there this summer - it is a really fun area - Deadwood, Sturgis, and Mount Rushmore. Sylvan Lake was really neat. We took my truck and at the time I said that if I ever had a Corvette again we would need to come back to the area. Corvette acquired a week ago - we will be back!

Thanks for sharing, and your car looks great. We've never driven Spearfish, but we've ridden it on our motorcycle several times. It is an absolute blast to ride it!

Don't forget the Iron Mountain Road(16A) with it's 314 curves in 17 miles, 14 switchbacks, 3 pigtails, 3 tunnels, 2 splits and 4 Presidents.

Oh, you just had to go and do that. Ive been there but never in a Corvette. Just thinking about that is something to savor. I was lucky enough to do several hundred miles on the back roads in the finger lakes region in New York. Nice long smooth empty country roads with tree hills creeks and such. I wont say how much I enjoyed it but it was a lot.
Looking forward to more road trips as they seem much more fun now. Love your car but they all look good. Especially like the red with chrome wheels as I am not a black wheel guy.

For those planning at trip to the Black Hills.
If you want a very nice secluded spot, stay at the Spearfish Canyon Lodge(in Spearfish Canyon, duh).
If you want a little more action, then I recommend staying at the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Deadwood. They have underground parking plus is a really nice place to stay. We had great weather except for one afternoon, when we hit an afternoon shower. The maintenance man brought out a hose and nozzle and we washed our six Corvettes in the underground garage. He didn't have to do that
Also, for a relaxing 4 hour round trip, ride the steam powered 1880 train from Hill City to Keystone(and back). Just get your reservations early as they are always full.
