Heads Up Display - like it or not?

I find hud a distraction and only use it as something different to do. Since I only do street driving, the mph center readout is almost instanteously read when I choose to see it rather than in my line of vision on the road. Same with the tach and I almost always know what gear I am in. The dash is very well laid out.

I have had it in a couple of cars and never liked it myself. It was a distraction to me. I like new tech, but that was one item I just didn't like. I kept wanting to reach my had up and swat it away. But it is a good option for those who would enjoy it.

At first I thought it was a gimmick... but I've grown to like it. When I get into other cars now I have to remind myself to look DOWN to see how fast I'm going. Having the music information pop up is kind of helpful.
I only use the MPH + gear display as the others are too busy and distracting. On the track I have used the track version just for the G-meter. I'd love if it was just speed + g-meter as I don't need the tach repeated up there. I shift based on the sound of the engine plus the rev limiter lights are enough to warn you.

Wouldn't buy a car without HUD! In the Vette seldom look at the dash, little need. I have the tach set at Track and love the lights as I approach redline. Also very useful to define suggested max rpm as the car warms. I have to merge into a 65 mph highway at the end of my street so use it to short shift up to speed.
Like the display of the gear and the color change when set at rev match. When having fun use the "g" meter, just wish the delay was a bit longer.
Allows me to keep my eyes as best on can on distracted drivers.
HUD display of NAV in the wife's SUV is great and as we use it for any long trips, that is when it's needed.

For me, it is a totally needless gimmick.

It’s a must have for me, the C7 executes it very well with full color and HD. Been driving HUD equipped Z06s since 2004...all cars should have one.
OBTW, flew fighters for the USAF and when the HUD dies done it is a significant failure. It’s a crutch for
critical info.

Melting Slicks
Myself, well I was impressed with the HUD however when my brother drove the car he hated it and asked to shut it off. I wrote it off to one person not liking something. Next my wife drove the car and also said it bothered her and said it made her seasick?
Kind of wondering if anyone else has run into that?

HUD is very cool, but I leave it off unless Im on a long boring road and I want to play with it.

Burning Brakes
I like the HUD a lot, but I do wish GM had done a better job in finishing it. When the sun hits just right you can see the hud fixture and sidewalls in the windshield. Seems like they needed to put more non-reflective material in there (black felt?) to prevent this from happening. Doesn't happen often but when it does I find it annoying as hell.

Before I ever used it I figured I would hate it because a piece of paper laying on top of the dash drives me crazy reflecting onto the windshield. However I don't know what it is but I actually love the HUD on my Stingray! It's not the same type of reflection as the paper on the dash.
