Vette got flooded....totaled?
Title says it all. The vette got flooded in the garage from hurricane matthews. Water got up to 3 quarters of the wheel. Water in the cabin on the carpets and right below the bottom of the seats. All electronics are off atm (alarm went off a few times and windshield wipers)
My question is do you think insurance will say it's fixable or is it totaled with all the electronics under the seat getting wet?
This sucks so bad I have only had the car for less then a month. I want it to be OK but at the same time I don't want a flooded title and have to worry about problems in the future.

Find a VERY reputable adjuster. I wish you well. The C7 is loaded with electronics so this is a real concern.

Oh, that is a sad sight.
Unless you are upside-down on your loan, I hope they total that. Simpler, and you can have a new one. At least that's what I would wish if it was mine.

Sorry about your lost & damage.
If I may ask if you knew you may get any chance of flood why would you not put the vette in the air? (on jack stands, blocks, etc). Just a friendly question NOT trying to be a D**K

Yea everyone asks me that. I just returned from a deployment less than a month ago. Just moved into a new house less than two weeks before this. I had no idea this area floods like this. Got off work as the flooding began and barely even made it home and into the garage. No jack stands because I just moved in and still getting the house and everything set up.

Look up jagamajajaran a member of this forum and send him a pm, his car got flood damage and was totaled. I am sure that he will offer some sound advice.
I sure hope that it works out for you.

the car will be totaled, due to water damage of the electronics plus,
bacteria/mold in the future.
All the electronic connections will have problems as far as rust ect...
Sorry for your loss but dont keep that car

I'm so sorry to see this! The photos I have attached show the water level in my 2014. It was a total loss at this level. The water intrusion to your car appears to have been higher based on the water line above the front fender inserts whereas mine was just at the lower edge of the inserts. I also chose to not buy the car back from the insurance company. A water loss is a loss that you're best moving on from, in my opinion. It was a hard decision, but the right one for me. Best wishes!

Hey brother. So very sorry to hear about this. Let me first say welcome home from your deployment and I'm sure I speak for everyone here in saying we are so grateful that you made home safely! Thank you from the bottom of my families heart for your selfless service to our country.
In regards to your Vette, this is truly awful. I would say that there is a 95%+ chance that it is totaled. May I ask who your insurance company is?

To answer your question about whether or not the car will be declared a total loss, that will be up to the insurance adjuster that inspects it. If the car had been completely submerged or engine and most/all electrical/electronic systems have been damaged, its likely that the car will be totaled. Since your car was partially submerged and some components have likely been ruined, but the car is otherwise largely unscathed and is so new, there is a fair chance they will attempt to repair it.
If the insurance company opts to repair the vehicle it will continue to carry a clean title, but may suffer "diminished value" when you go to sell/trade it in the future. Only if the car is declared a total loss will it be branded with a salvage title for being a "flood vehicle".
Whatever happens, I hope you're treated fairly and the insurance company listens to your concerns. Be vocal and stay involved throughout the process.
