Any reason to stay away from 2014 model year?

One of the other things that can happen in subsequent MYs after a new model is introduced is that some level of complacency sets in and quality control can decline. Cost-cutting pressures also often increase throughout a model's lifespan, so corners may be cut in the parts supply chain.
I'm not saying these have happened with the C7, but these phenomena are common in manufacturing. When a new model is being introduced, a massive amount of attention is paid toward ensuring a successful launch.

I have both a '14 and a '16. Both are base coupes, the '14 is a 3LT and the '16 is a 2LT. '14 is an A6 and '16 is an A8. Both bought new and both have been flawless.
The '16 differences are few. The steering wheel, the hatch pull down, the panel fit and finish, the brake rotors, the cameras, the navigation software, the Apple Carplay, the shifter, are what I can think of at this time.
If you can find a good '14, there's no reason to get it. There haven't been a ny changes that would make it dated.

So would you buy a 2014 2LT Z51 or 2016 2LT Z51 if they were pretty much equal condition (Mileage, color, etc) but the 2016 has all the subtle improvements AND they were both listed for $45K ?
Sure my 30K was a bit of an exaggeration but now what if the 2016 is $50K and the 2014 was $38K ?
Just saying, basically all things being equal most anyone would take the 2016. Unless of course it was cheaper.

Specs and Changes
My 2014 2LT Z51 M7 has been trouble free. Some colors come and go over the years. Lime Rock Green is a 2014 only color.
Here's the specs and changes:

The main possible shortcomings would be squeaks and rattles that were not yet worked out and body panel fit and finish issues.

For me the 3LT Kalahari interior is better in 2014 C7's as it covers much of the dash. In fact will not get Kalahari with planned GS because of the change when I sell my mint condition 2014 in a few months. No extra features of importance to me in newer cars. In fact there are few changes since first ones were built.

Here are 2 3LT Z51 with a $18K difference in price. (hard to find identical)
2014 $40K http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/5824298687.html
2016 $58 http://nd.craigslist.org/ctd/5824408201.html
So once again, the advice I gave was unless there is a significant difference in price, I'd be looking at 2016's

Assuming similar conditions and low mileage for both, for a $10K plus difference, I'd take the 2014 all day long. The extra electronic features are of no interest to me, and for about $1K, I could extend the '14 warranty w/ a GMEPP plan as long as there is original factory warranty left.

Any time I drive my '14 around, folks that stop to talk almost always think it's a 2016.
I enjoy telling them it's actually a 2014, the first year they brought back the Stingray name, which usually invokes the response, "oh, wow, this is a Stingray?"
Then I hit them with the Premiere Edition limited number which gets more love. (And then when I tell them it has almost 800 horsepower after my mods, I get some bewildered looks, but that's for a different story)
If you're interested, search for the Premiere Edition. They made only 500 coupes in laguna blue and 550 convertibles in lime rock green with kalahari top. They were optioned to the top dealers across the country to put on their showroom floor - not for sold orders. That is to say, you couldn't order a Premiere edition.
The price is right, and it's fully loaded with every feature available save for auto transmission, glass roof, and competition seats, which weren't available until later in the year. They even came with a 9-piece matching Corvette luggage set. The VIN# is unique and has the limited # in it. Check my sig, the light grey options are standard with a Premiere Editions C7 Coupe.

I get it
b. A complicated vehicle
c. Many reports (on this site) of first year problems
d. Bought an '05 (first year) new and had just about every reported
problem
But I (hopefully) lucked out with the '14 Conv 7MT Z51 I bought with about 6K miles on it.......I do have to take it in for the air bag recall but (knock on crossed fingers, or whatever) it has been trouble free as mine was a later '14 and had plenty of miles for (early) problems to be found and resolved(none according to CARFAX)....we'll see
