At 71 years I have been driving a long time and that includes big CDL trucks, some of which have a lot more gears than my Corvette ever had.

Heck I learned how to drive in the early 60s with the normal standard transmission of the era, a 3 on the tree non synchronized first gear. To drive good in that era learning how to do a quick double clutch was mandatory.

On my 7 Vette now and all previous ones were either a 4spdM or 6spM, this 15 I now own is a auto trans. I traded in a 07 Z06 to get my 15! I have a bad left leg and its much easier just putting in drive (or paddle mode if needed). To be honest I rather like this 8sp auto! Transmissions have sure come a long way since I first got behind the wheel!

All my Vettes have had all manuals, except the C5 I bought my wife. Absolutely love the feeling of working my way through the gears.... However, with today's technology, the auto transmissions are tremendously better than they were even 10 years ago, and don't have near the stigma today as they had 10 or more years ago.

Bottomline: It would be a very boring, gray scale world if we all liked the same things. M7? A8? Doesn't really matter to me.....whatever you enjoy.

My M-7 is a weekend driver garage queen. If it was a daily driver, it would be an automatic. I do have my wife's F-Type if I want an auto sports car. Just not as fast, but fun...

And A8's are for grannys and drag queens.
I think the paddle shifts are for the Corvette Racing Team too.

Not even close as far as the transmissions are concerned.

I'd rather suffer the torture of driving on the streets with a racing double clutch than an A8 in a vette.

20 years of driving a manual and this was the car I finally switched to an automatic... I spend a lot of time in traffic, but every second I'm not in stop/go traffic, I'm in manual mode -- not the same but its working for me.

Those transmissions from the fifties and sixties are what I remember. I have owned six Corvettes and they have all been automatics. The last two have had the paddle shift which I never use. Oh by the way I drive a locomotive back and forth from Nebraska to Wyo. You have to use a reverser to get those big guys going forward or backwards so I guess that would count as an automatic also.

I enjoy shifting-regardless of the car. My DD Subaru is also a stick. As long as my knee holds up I will gets sticks.

I'd rather drive a M7, but my left leg was ripped off by an azzhole in a four door '91 Buick, so an A8 is better than nothing.
