Should the C8 Corvette Come With a Manual Transmission as an Option?

They should stop offering the Auto...make a hard core stance here in this world of latte drinking and cell phone while driving folks......just kidding, but no-manual = me-no-buy......I cringe everytime I see a performance car with an auto trans...it's just wrong....

The purest in me says Yes.
But if I was Tadge (or whoever is on the C8) I'd be putting all my development $$$'s into a really good sequential manual and forget the stick.
Ultimate success of this car will depend on its performance relative to the exotics.

At some point in the not too distant future, autonomous cars will mean you won't do any driving at all. While driving is still here, I want the full driving experience, including shifting gears.

It should come with an automated manual transmission. A DCT.

I hope they will continue with the manual, but frankly, I have my doubts. With 77% of C7's being automatic, there will come a point where engineering a manual doesn't make financial sense (see Ferrari).
Further, if the C8 offers a dual clutch automatic (rather than a TC auto), I think that will end the manual. Paddles are paddles but dual clutch autos seem to get a hall pass verses paddle equipped TC autos. Both autos have their plusses and minuses....If the dual clutch comes to pass in the C8, it will be fun to hear the screams when folks get the maintenance bill (just ask GT-R owners). It will make the hand wringing over mag ride shock cost look like child's play.

Kill the manual and you kill part of the character of the Corvette-
I hope that day never comes as I will no longer be a buyer if that is the case.

Absolutely keep the manual.

I do. All the time. Still prefer the manual in a Corvette.
