I had to stretch my budget just to afford a non-Z07 Grand Sport. Not that the difference really matters. I'm not the reincarnation of Nuvolari and you can't win at HPDE anyway.
I think the base GS will perform very close to a Z07 by running racing brake pads and slicks. I'm sure the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s are the main reason for the .15 g difference between the two versions. I could buy a set of those for the track or slicks and mount them on a second set of wheels. Used Grand Sport and Z06 wheels are already showing up for reasonable money on eBay and CL so a second set of wheels & tires won't be too pricey.

Without. The published number for the base GS is 1.05 g. It's largely a function of the tires. Anyone can significantly increase their numbers with stickier tires. I'm planning on running slicks on my non-Z07 GS at the track. I think I'll get all that .15 g back with the right tires.

"To make it simple; the GS (nonZ07) pulls 1.05 G's a Z06 (nonZ07) 1.05 G's. They have the same brakes.
A GS/Z07 pulls 1.2 G's as does a Z06/7. They both have CC Brakes.
FYI the difference between 1.05 and 1.20 G's is vast."
1.20 G's is for a GS/Z07 or a Z06/7.
1.05 G's is for a GS or a Z06.
Due to the lighter weight brakes and stickier tires the suspension including the Mag shocks is/are tuned differently for the Z07 cars.

If the base Stingray is 1.0, and the base GS is 1.05, then there is not much of a handling difference between the 2, correct?

I'm going to go ahead and state the obvious here but gimme a GT3 RS or 675 LT over both of them together.

The word Porsche brings out the worst in people because they have an engineering team that is not stuck in the past. Well engineered cars cost money and many Corvette buyers are not willing to spend it on Foreign cars. Did anyone see the new episode of Jay Leno????

Le Mans Master
Have you seen where they put the engine?

So only Porsche possesses an elite engineering team, and all us cheepo's are stuck with some knuckle draggers at Bowling Green is it?
Get you some Porsche then, and we'll stick with our primitive Vettemobiles...

I'm beginning to think the post may have been meant as a joke, rather than something to be taken seriously....

It's a joke alright.
Is it me or is Jay Leno's Garage a bit lacking? When Jay talks cars, then it's interesting, but given his background on the Tonight Show always writing jokes, he seems to be cracking one after the other, trying way too hard to be funny.
