Such a broad statement. Is it a Ferrari 348, 355 or 360 or a 488 or Enzo? I owned a 360 and still a 612 Scaglietti...and I would NOT trade the Z06 for either...although I will say the 612 interior is SICK!! Carbon fiber and leather everywhere.

Fun factor...I've never driven a car more fun than the Z06...including Ferrari's, Lambo's and Ruf Porsche's. Were some higher quality fit and finish, YES...but were they 'better'? Not necessarily.

If these tests were "apples to apples" rather than "apples to oranges" they would be more fair. However, the car mags can't really chance that since their real goal is to sell magazines and aggravate readers so they write in. A 911 should be tested against a ZO6. Same price range. The Grand Sport against a Cayman, same price range and the Stingray vs the Boxster. Simple as that. Now remember guys that Porsche makes even higher priced sports cars so we'll have to wait for the next ZR1 and/or the Zora.

I think the logic is mid-range Porsche 911 = 911s vs. mid-range Vette = GS. Z06 is tested against Turbo, TurboS and GT3 all the time.

I do agree with your comment about car magazines. So many of the tests are so off balance in terms of comparisons. Some magazines are worse than others but they all deserve to be in a bird cage.

I like how everybody pats themselves on their backs and gives high fives to MT when the Corvette beats the Porsche but are up in arms when the Mustang beat the Corvette and gives the old "WTF do they know".

I love reading these test reports and can say, there is little doubt in my mind that the Vette is an all American winner.

As a huge fan of both Porsches and Corvettes (having been fortunate to have owned two of each, a C5, a C6 and two 911 (991) Carrera S models), I found this article you posted to be really cool - thank you for sharing this!

I thought about a used 911 during one of my new car "itch" periods, but found so many transmission oil leak issues and high cost of repair, that I just couldn't do it, as much as I admire the car. I've had 5 used Corvettes in my lifetime and never had a serious problem with any of them. Worst problem was a blown head gasket on my 84 which I repaired myself. As badly as I flogged my C5 coupe while living and working in Germany and Italy, it never let me down. I've heard Porsches referred to as "bulletproof" but I couldn't take the chance.

I am certain the Porsche deserves it's recognition as a superb sports car, but the Corvette is a better performer in my opinion.

The 991.1 has been really reliable (and the engine dates back to 2009). Unsure yet how the new 3.0 liter turbo engines in the 991.2 will fare.

That being said, maintenance costs compared to Corvettes are significantly higher.

GT4 is crazy expensive and, again, underpowered (as you said) for the street.

$100k
mid engine
450-500hp
good brakes
nice interior

Ughh...maybe I should cancel my C7Z on order. A lot of Corvette owners seem to be mouth breathers.

I notice that the article says the interior of the Corvette still lacks quality. The headliner fell down at 3,000 miles. Forget all of the performance figures and build a better quality car like Porsche.

True, you should always buy and cancel car orders based off anonymous Internet writing. Brilliant

The new 911s is dam impressive...I prefer the corvette grand sport ...

Literally for half the price I'd buy the corvette...

Porsches cost to purchase and maintain is ridiculous in my opinion.

I still haven't wrapped my head around cars costing over 100 grand...

I could easily afford it but find the pricing ridiculous.

Unless the cars going to bl w me...I'm not spending that kind of money...

Even 92 is insane in my opinion..
