GS vs. 911 Motor Trend review

The new 911s is dam impressive...I prefer the corvette grand sport ...
Literally for half the price I'd buy the corvette...
Porsches cost to purchase and maintain is ridiculous in my opinion.
I still haven't wrapped my head around cars costing over 100 grand...
I could easily afford it but find the pricing ridiculous.
Unless the cars going to bl w me...I'm not spending that kind of money...
Even 92 is insane in my opinion..

They are both brilliant cars and it was not an easy decision at all. I have no regrets - I have since replaced my first 991S with another one that was certified pre-owned with three years left on the warranty. Absolutely a blast to drive. Looks are subjective but the 991 shape is gorgeous in my eyes. I am a fan of the C7's looks, too - just stunning.
New Porsche prices are crazy (and their options even more so) which is why I went used/CPO - you can get near new car with up to 6 years, 100k warranty (a total of 2 years or up to 50,000 miles from the mileage when certified, on top of the 4 year/50k mile original factory warranty) for far less than what a new one would cost. The difference in price between what I paid for my CPO Porsche 991S with three years left of warranty, 13k miles on it, and what it cost new (MSRP) was more than the price of a loaded C7. My example is extreme but in many cases you can get a lightly used CPO 991S for $30k-$50k less than a new one.
Maintenance costs for the 911 are crazy expensive compared to the Vette. I don't mind paying the difference but there is no question that the C7 is much, much cheaper to maintain (at least comparing both in terms of dealership service - if you do your own maintenance the difference is minimal).
The C7 is a fantastic car, of course. Wonderful to live in an era where both the Corvette and the 911 are such world class sports cars!

I miss the huge trunk area from the Vette but it is nice to be able to occasionally throw the kids in the back seat once in a while...

I think it has been proven that they are less expensive to fix so in that regard you could say they are more practical. Better looking is certainly up to the owner. I have seen some colors on other vehicles that I cannot understand how they made it to the order form.

Oh so thread title means that only cars mentioned in the thread title can be discussed......right. And to think, with all my time in here and all my posts I've been completely wrong.
How about this, a magazine reviewing two cars, there, now my post may make more sense to you.

In the C6Z forum we had all sorts of forever threads with folks shouting at each other over why the valves were failing. After I judiciously used the block/ignore function life was much more pleasant. Don't forget about it.

Some Corvette guys at the track were giving me the cold shoulder because I hung out with Porsche guys (my friends ) and rode a bike. They all got their Vettes from Corvette World and wore Corvette clothing.
Next session, there were 4 very thick black strips going right off the track and a LPE C6Z06 owner picking grass out of the grill
And I put down better lap times in my base C6 :p
I just thought "perfect. If this isn't stereotype, I don't know what is"

I walked over to talk to them when I first got there about timing for bikes/cars and they were just dismissive and cold. Later when I tried to tell them they can't go off track and not tell anyone because it puts rocks and dirt on the track, which can kill bikers, they were generally douches.

Good thing that Ferrari guys are more mature when Lamborghini/McLaren comparisons come up on FerrariChat.
You mean to tell me you don't make car buying decisions based on Internet hand wringers? Man, what's your deal?

The fan boys need to read it and weep, watch it and whine.
Hopefully the C8 will get the DCT and mid-engine layout that the C7 deserved, and the AWD option that a top tier street car needs in 2016+.
Can't wait for the C8 and Zora......
