You are not mistaken, but I think the issue is leaving them in when driving on the street. It smacks of poser, and if you ask me, it's just asking to have them stolen as a souvenir.

Have you ever been to a race track? Pretty sure every track I have ever been to requires them.

If you ever break down and need to flatbed the car, you'll get your answer as well.

For non track and every day use I don't want to display toe hooks on the front and rear of my Corvette. No doubt they would come in handy in the dead of night when Billy-bob the roll back driver comes to your rescue. The picture that the Corvette-Master was good enough to provide put a cool look on tow hooks but I think I will just keep a set available in the car for use if needed.

My '14 doesn't have the threaded receivers so it's a moot point for me. The only reason I'd get them even if it had the receivers is if I tracked it.

Bottom line is if it doesn't bother the owner who cares what the peanut gallery thinks.

I completely agree with this. As I have gotten older (27) I care less about what other people have on their vehicles.

I consistently have people tell me what I need to do to my STi, and what exhaust and this or that and Im like dude, STFU its my car and your wrong.

oh, and btw- leaving the tow hooks in, is like wearing a condom on a date
Hmm, why have two in the trunk, you only need to screw in one at a time!??

The rear hook and front hook shafts are different lengths as the receivers are set back at different lengths. !!!!!!! (i like excessive punctuation as well )

I would think that one long would take care of all of your garage towing scenarios.

So let me get this straight........ you guys carry $300+ worth of tow hooks in the trunk for the unlikely chance you may break down, and do not chose to roll the car, yea last time I checked you could push the tires and roll a car, to get it lined up or out of a garage for a flatbed?

Do you carry a spare tire too? Why not so extra oil or some antifreeze too?

Track use is one thing but daily driving?

Mostly for track use. But the red hoop was made to leave in by the manufacturer. It was made to look attractive vs the ugly GM one. It's kind of a pain putting that hook in and out sometimes very hard to thread into the receiver. So I think to avoid having to crawl on ones hands and knees people just leave it in and the red one was designed to look attractive.
