FWIW, my detailer says that these dusters leave tiny scratches and to avoid them.
Just driving it will get rid of the dust (though I have a ceramic coating, which might help).

California Duster. I finally replaced my original one after 10+ years of use, so now it gets to handle brake dust duty on the wheels.

I've always had success with the duster even on black cars if used correctly. Just brush it across the finish in one direction using no pressure. I believe that causes less potential damage/scratching than using detail spray on a car with a week's worth of dust if there isn't sufficient liquid applied to the surface.

Dragging dust & dirt across your paint with nothing to lubrication or protect the surface, I'll pass. If you are going for a quick fix, use Optimum No Rinse to do a quick clean.
This all depends on how you view your paint and if you are actually aware of the swirls caused by careless detailing. Most people are happy to get a free wash from the dealer too...

I have used the California Duster for years on numerous vehicles, one was just a show vehicle. Have had no issues with them. I generally wipe the car down when I return from using it, cover it and I'm good to go the next time I want to drive it. I wipe down so I don't cover a dusty car, possibly scratching it. Takes only a few minutes to wipe then cover. Usually use the detail spray after wipe down with duster once a week. Just me though.....
