Yeah you are so right it's soooo slow a whole 2 or so seconds behind a Z06 at VIR...oh and equal to a GT3RS and faster than a GT3, Turbo S, Viper, Huracan, McLaren...
Yeah "sure" trust him don't buy a Grand Sport. I own one and I can tell you it's so terribly "FUN"!

You are correct! Settle it on a road course and stay all session every session before you down play how great another Corvette is at what it was designed for.... useable power and amazing handling.
I faced the Zo6 vs GS dilemma, I ended up buying a 17 GS 2LT 7spd Zo7 pkg. If I bought a 16 Zo6 I would have had the same heat issues I did when tracking my 15 ZL1.
Didn't seem like a smart purchase (track focused members) to jump back into a SC that has cooling issues and dealing with all of the mods. If fixed in 17 Zo6 I would consider that an option.

Z06 off idle makes almost as much torque as the GS at peak.
Keep telling yourself its better than a Z06.
For 99% of the driving most people do.

Actually, I think that Randy Probst said that he thought the car couldn't handle the power. And so did MotorTrend on youTube.
Not everyone. I used to have a Porsche Turbo heavily modified for the track and I was faster than almost everyone. Actually the car, not me, was faster than everyone. Now I'm tracking a Z51. I find it way more fun running down supposedly faster cars. And once again, Randy Probst is a pretty experienced track driver and he didn't mind that the GS was "slower". Nor did the Grand Sport driver from this year's Lightning Lap.

I enjoy my new Corvette. Hope you enjoy yours.... without feeling the need to talk sh;t about other corvettes built for different buyers.

The throttle has to be squeezed initially, not hammered.
Otherwise, you will find yourself straddling something akin to a very angry riding bull.
I do recall something to that effect too...

If you read my reply you will see that I never said the GS was better. Just better for me and those who actually track their cars.

Personally, I don't want a track-focused car that can't go around the track. Regardless of how much torque it makes off-idle. Guess that's the only place you can use it without overheating, yes??
You made a terrible choice, get over it!

This guy is SOOOO offended that someone would choose a "lesser trim" than he did on a C7. It's hilarious! So desperate to defend your purchase. Believe it or not; others opinions have NO impact on your life. (gasp!) You're not going to change their mind.

If the OP has made it this far into the thread...
I'd ask, how much power is too much? Do you like a kick in the pants, of the pucker-inducing variety? Most of the Z owners are going to say the power is fine, though most will advise care with mashing the velocitator. For me, the LT-1 is just fine, I like the 460 horses and I feel it's perfect for this platform.
Therefore, the Z is worth it if you want the insane power, otherwise, it may very well be a waste, since you're not likely to use most of that potential. If you've had a chance to test drive them, let us know your thoughts.

if you want a car to drive on a racetrack buy a racecar.
Gs and Z are cars to drive on the street that can go on a track I'm guessing your car has a licence plate
