Default Owner Catches Valet Driving His C7 Corvette Z06 Recklessly

Remember folks: if your C7 Corvette comes with the PDR system and you occasionally leave your Corvette in the hands of a Valet, use the PDR's Valet Mode!

This would never happen to me. If I go to a place that has a Valet and they won't let me park my own car, I go somewhere else. Same with hotels. If I have to take my car in for a recall problem I don't let it out of my sight. I also change my own oil.

Seems to me that PDR/Valet mode or not, you allow someone unknown to you to drive the car at your own risk.

If I do valet my car, I will usually pay extra to park close and watch them park it. Then I take back my keys.

That's why I park my own car.

I would never valet my Corvette. Like Robert said, I'd go someplace else. I will valet park my wife's car or a rental unit though.

99% of the time if I have to deal with valet I usually ask the valet to let me park the car myself or sit in the passenger side as they drive it and park it. Then I take the keys.

Issue is when I go to a fancy event with my date. I cant just leave her there. That's when you have to put on valet mode and tell them first "just wanted to let you know that im required by law to let you know that there is a camera recording all actions done while you are valeting my car. Please drive carefully. Thank you"

Give them a little scare, and they will be safer

That was nothing. I've heard of dealers doing much, much worse than that with customer cars.

Actually yes, you could.

But you're not required by law to do that. So why lie?

LOL! Have a different car if a valet is needed, but fun to see anyway!

This. I'll give them a 20 and it stays in front with all the other cool cars.

i valet at certain high end places that have exotics parked in front. I also can see the parking lot from the restaurant/mall.

But when the valet takes the car where you cant see it, it can be little worrisome.

Why does this crazy stuff always happen in Houston? I guess it's full of hooligans! It looks like he was pointing at the front parking cameras and not the PDR camera.

Where I live now, valet parking is pretty rare. But when I was back in the Big City, we'd occasionaly go to events where valet parking was not an option...fortunately no problems, but I had to wonder.

Good logic there. That's the way to do it.

They don't know that. When you give off the impression that you know your laws, they will assume you do. I know for a fact that if someone told me I was going to be recorded, I would be extra careful to avoid any costly mistakes. The valet will be less likely to mess with someone's car if they knew their job was on the line. Plain and simple.

Also, I'm PRETTY sure, you're legally obligated to tell people if you're voice recording them. Hence why all the phone calls always say "this call my be subject to recording blah blah blah."

Just tell them you're recording them. And PDR in valet mode no longer records sound, unless yours has never been back to the dealer and been reflashed.

I have no reason to let a $9/hr flunkie drive my car.

Valeting your car is like letting your college age kid's friends drive it.
Ain't no way......
