Default Adios to the C7 for now...

Hate to see it go, buuuut.

We had an accident with our Jeep Commander on Friday (16 year old driver in the other car who turned into us UGH). All are OK, but the family car looks to be either totaled entirely, or will be out for awhile. Had to make a quick decision and decided to trade the C7 in for another proper car for our family (Durango R/T Hemi). Just don't want to wait on the Jeep or have them driving some rental around. Will miss that C7, was the best vette I've ever owned by far, but will certainly buy another after all of this settles.

Strange how things change, but I am grateful that all are fine and that we were able to get that Durango quickly and easily!

Wow this was a great car tho...

I would learn to live with a rental before I'd cut the Vette loose.

If it were my car, yes, but not with kids. I want them in something I own and know is safe.

Funny how the careless actions of others impact your (our) lives so much.

Glad everyone is okay, hopefully you can be part of the Corvette gang again soon.

Yeah man we were just talking that exactly. In the end, it always works out though for the better.

This was vette number 4. Number 5 will be an upgrade for sure. THANK MONK!

Good luck. I hope everything works out.

When it's time to get another C7, you'll be in good shape. It's a buyer's market for Corvettes right now.

I am sure it hurts to let it go, but I believe you did the right decision.

Sorry to hear, but could there be an underlying reason to trade the vett...possible an upgrade to a GS or Z06 next time around?

Cannot argue with that. Though, if you do take a rental, there is always the option to exchange for a different one if it doesn't feel right.

Totally man, but when you factor in the angst she went through from the crash itself, and then not knowing what she will be driving, plus the safety factor it was an easy call.

Certainly not saying it was fun or easy to trade it in (considered keeping both at least 1,000 times through the process), but I'm more financially comfortable doing it this way.

(and I did rip out the modifications before trading, included the painted/transparent top). Next one will be white too lol

The Durango R/T hemi is a great rig that I'm sure you'll enjoy. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited hemi (same basic platform as your Durango but with only two rows of seating) and love everything about it. It's not exactly miserly with gas (averaging 17 mpg on a typical tank with mixed driving) but I couldn't care less. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

OP, glad to hear everyone is OK but using the accident as the reason to get rid of the C7 because a "Rental" is unsafe?

is it that you are trying to convince yourself or us lol

What "would you" get to replace the C7 "when the time comes" ?

I read posts like this, and my first thought is, "Glad no one is hurt." Things can always be replaced....You are doing a good thing.
