Default Spring Mountain launch control demonstration (videos & instructions)

I shot these two C7 Launch Control demonstration videos at Spring Mountain last week. The instructions below are from Spring Mountain. Enjoy!

Manual Transmission Video

Automatic Transmission Video

Demonstration of the C7 Corvette Stingray Manual Transmission Launch Control at Spring Mountain Motorsports Resort

Launch Control Instructions

- Select P.T.M. (Z51, Grand Sport, Z06) or Competitive Mode (Non-Z51 Stingray)

- Make sure the steering wheel is straight.

- Select first gear for manual transmission cars, drive or manual mode for automatic transmission cars.

- For automatic cars, hold the brake pedal firmly.

- In order to activate Launch Control, rapidly go from no throttle to full throttle.

- Hold full throttle until the RPMs stabilize.

- When you are ready to launch, release the clutch (for manual cars) or brake pedal (for automatic cars).

- You must hold full throttle until the end of first gear, then upshift in a normal fashion.

Don't forget that if you have a Z51 sans mag ride you just have to go into Comp mode. I still have no idea why the documentation does make this clearer.

Nice videos btw!

I think they should add an indicator light that Launch Control is engaged or available. In my car the button you push is a little sticky. I know I'll ask the mechanic next time I'm in the shop. So I'm not always sure that I have Launch Control set properly. The thought of having the clutch all the way in and then flooring the gas makes me scared of getting redline and doing damage. It'd be nice to know beforehand that that won't happen because Launch Control is properly setup.

The rev limiter protects the engine if you aren't in launch control and launch control protects it if you are in launch control. No need to worry.

Launch control for the M7 cars is just silly. If you're actually going for a hole shot and not a diff destroying glory launch, you finesse it off the line around 2500 rpm. You get a launch closer to what the A8 does and not some retarded smoke show.

hi!
as long as the car is straight, not moving, make sure you're in one of the ptm modes (switch to track on the dial, push center button twice fairly quick, then turn dial to whichever mode you like-we use sport 1 or 2)
clutch in all the way, in first gear, then floor the throttle-if you're not in launch mode, the car will rev all the way up to the limiter (lol-you'll know by the sound!) if you did everything properly, the car's revs will stabilize at between 3 and 4k.
i'll post a quick video in a bit...
even if you did it wrong, the car's engine limiter will prevent damage-just be sure your car is warmed up!
