Default 1,000 mile check

Was anyone else ever told to come in to the dealer for a 1000 mi. check on a Stingray?

No, and no need either for a 1000 mile check other than the dealer making a few bucks. Just follow your dic for oil changes and your manual for required maintenance.

Yes I am On a 1000 mile reprogram because of my A8 trans install. I had the shifting problems and maybe your car had them before if you are not the 1st owner. They say that the car have to re-learn your driving style. You should not have to pay anything for this and I think that maybe you have a service team that cares like my team do!!!!
with the weather change its a little hard to get to a 1000 miles for me as I don't drive my car in the rain. I would take it in in and see what they say if I was you.

They said they just wanted to make sure everything is as it should be, but I am going to nail them down as to exactly what they are looking for. The car is f---ing awsome!

Ask them what page of the owners' manual they are referencing.

many dealerships and manufactures offer this. is not to upsell any unnecessary maintenance. just to insure the customer is understanding how the vehicle operates ,and to make sure the customer is satisfied with the product. I work for a non Chevrolet dealership as a service advisor. Volkswagen offers this service as well. frustrating when trying to help customers the first thing comes to mind is the dealer is trying to rip the customer off.

In our local Corvette club, about 200 cars, there is a few guys that are loyal to the dealers, have the car in for that 1000 mile check-up, regular oil changes, etc. Most of the guys NEVER go back into a dealer except for recalls.
One local dealer changes the oil at no charge once a year for every Corvette in the club.

Not to bust on you too much - but my experience with a dealer "clean up" is that the lowest paid dealership employee runs a rag around the surface of my formerly nice paint and creates a world of hurt with scratches and swirl marks. Perhaps your dealership is different - that would be nice and notable. My experience over the last 35 years of acquiring new vehicles is that the less I have my vehicle at the dealership the nicer it stays.

everyone has an opinion and entitled to it. don't want this turning into a pissing match. or "busting" on each other.

"YEP, you've put a thousand miles on the car, sir!".

As far as making sure you understand how the car works, except for a couple of the largest dealers, they know very FAR less about operating the car than someone who has put a thousand miles behind the wheel. IMO

Cadillac did a 1000 mile mandatory inspection in the 80s snd 90s. It was to basically road test the car and to check for fluid leaks as part of the warranty. Never have I been told this for the Corvette however.
