Mild -2-Wild Why Bother
Why bother. with the C7 setting you can establish the sound level you like going from tour to sport activates the Wild sound whenever you hit the gas pedal over 2000 rpm. it goes to Mild by setting to tour mode.
Why take off the fuse and even worst rig a remote switch? Only advantage I see if you want to change rapidly. when you want to impress a babe walking on the street!

Good question, but in any setting your car quiets down at a certain speed/RPM combination. The NPP valves kick in no matter what mode. Pulling the fuse or this switch alleviates this.
Actually, it's not that loud to just pull the fuse. Just a nice sound to provide an audio reminder what gear you are in!
I installed this switch. Really easy and GREAT instructions. Programmed two of my unused Homelink buttons to provide the on-off. The only thing I wish was that default was in quiet (depending on you car's setting) mode rather than loud mode. Or that the device would remember the last setting when shut off. But not a big deal.

Neat, but I'd rather just route a wire with an inline switch and fuse across the two fuse terminals and I can put that switch wherever on the car as well much cheaper and less wires in the engine bay plus on startup it'll be in whichever mode you already had left it in.

Good point! If you find an easy way into the cabin from the front fuse box could you please post a few photos? Thanks!

You can control it from the touch screen.
I just leave mine in track mode. It's fine.

Melting Slicks
Actually this is the equivalent of having fuse 42 (41 on 14's) in or pulled. It's the first set of flaps downstream from the engine it's controlling. Just pull #42 and it's fine all the tine, no need to go any further.

but why wouldn't you just do it via touchscreen controller?

Because, even though you've set it to "loud" (e.g. Track) mode on the center screen menu, the valves still close at various rpms. This was necessary to pass federal noise regulations.
Pulling fuse 42 (41 for 2014s) keeps the NPP valves open all the time, whether you're in Weather, Economy, Tour, Sport, or Track. The M2W device is for people who would prefer to sometimes have it quieter without having to pull over and reinstall the fuse. If you really want loud all the time, you don't need to purchase the M2W device.

so track isn't just "wide open" all the time?

No, and neither is Sport.

If you have two unused Homelink buttons available, you may be able to program them to control the rear valves and ditch the remote fob.

I just mounted the fob with velcro on the underside of the center console door. It's easy to get to and out of sight, and I don't use the quiet setting very often. I do need 2 out of my 3 Homelink buttons for 2 different garage doors that I do use all the time.
