2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
YAY....... Especially with black wheels I took it a step further and added the pinstripe on the wheel, and filled in the embossed lettering.

Yes, you want the Red Calipers to become a focal point of the C7. It is a must. The Gray will not do that.

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I've never understood the logic behind drawing attention to the brake calipers. Of all the places on the car to make stand out, the brake calipers don't make the list for me. YMMV.

Plus the fact you are charged $500 for a paint color change. No thanks for me

You just answered your own question. Sure gray is OK, and if you didn't have the option to upgrade them it wouldn't be a deal breaker... but the red calipers make the black wheels look SOO much better. So glad my car has that option. You will be too!

If one were to get a new 2017 Stingray in Torch Red with the black painted aluminum wheels, is it a good idea to opt for the bright red brake calipers?
I don't think the grey ones look horrible or anything, but the red does stand out nicely in contrast with the black wheels.
Yay or nay? Just wanted some input from other members of the forum.
** Thanks for any responses and have a GREAT day!! **
Oh, by the way, Tire Rack sells a paint kit made especially for calipers: $37 plus shipping. It looks like some sort of epoxy (two parts to be mixed).

Put me in the "nay" minority too. A red car with red calipers just doesn't work for me. I'd go with the black. Red calipers have really become cliché in my opinion.
That all being said, I do like the red calipers with a white, silver, or grey color. I think they go great with Admiral Blue.
I really like the yellow even better with WGG and Laguna Blue.
Just my solicited opinion. It's your money and your car.

Yay for red!

Absolutely yes. I purchased my GS off of the showroom floor so I didn't get a say on how it was built. That is my only gripe about the car is that I wish those massive calipers were in red rather than hiding in black behind my satin black rims with red pinstripes.

My CTS-V came with very plain gray. Just didn't fit the look of the car. A few track days later and the clear coat cooks to a golden color. I used dupli-color red anodized paint and brake clear coat. Looked like candy apple when I was done and held up great.
