GM no longer leads with its camera technology
Ford calls it "360 view", and Toyota calls it "Birds eye view" and GM doesn't even have a name for it.
What the C7 Corvette has for visual position/location feedback (if you paid the extra dollars for the option are two cameras on the front grill which have an arcane interface and don't always work when you are parking, and a rear view camera which does work (but is placed too near the exhaust).
And unlike the Honda turn signal cameras (placed on the underside of the side mirrors) which give you a nice side view of the lane you are moving into, and eliminate blind spots (given the miniature side view mirrors that are more design than function on the C7.
The PDR (personal data recorder) is a fuzzy, out of focus flop, which they ignore and refuse to acknowledge the complaints from their customers.
With the exception of the heads up display which I do feel they hit the mark on, the balance of there camera based information systems have no design influence with the C7 or each other. When all they had to do was to add two cameras to each side mirror and they could have had what Ford, Toyota and others have "a 360° birds eye view around the entire vehicle to assist parking and location.

And who gives a rats ***?
Corvette leads in performance...
Riddle me this joker: whens the last time a Toyota made 650 lb ft of torque out of the factory?
Hint never

Corvette leads who in performance? .... Porsche, Lamborghini, Maclaren, or Bugatti?
Try to stay on subject, if you want to try to make your point.

you mentioned ford, Honda, Toyota in your post.
hence that is where the comparison to performance was.
you appear to be the one off subject, not many people are buying a sports car for its ability to have a 360 degree view.
the vette is a machine for a driver not a soccer mom

My neighbor's 2016 KIA minivan has that bird's eye camera feature. It's really neat. She has much better seating/viewing than I have in the Corvette, so I would think the bird's eye camera would be more beneficial for the Corvette owner. I would like to have it in my Z06.
And her minivan will outrun my Z06 when it's 5 degrees outside as my Z06 has UHP summer tires mounted(can't get winter tires in my Z06's size but she can in her minivan sizes).
Her interior is day & night improvement over the interior of my Corvette(C6) and I would say her interior ia better than the C7's).

Amazing how every time a new safety feature or cup holder design is introduced on another car it becomes a why don't we have this on our Corvette forum rant.
I am going to take a wild guess and bet there are owners who love the looks, the power, the available features of the Corvette and could not care less about cameras, cupholders, lane departure warnings, etc, etc.

The Corvette team is made up from old school engineers living in the past and every one else is moving on. Other brands have a lot of new technology coming in the next few years and the Corvette will most likely have more HP and some new colors. Maybe GM will surprise us at the Detroit Auto show, lets wait and see.

Toyota ....maybe. Possibly
So it appears the rumored Supra, formerly the FT 1 concept, will also be the basis of the BMW Z5. Hopefully minus the bmw crappy ( when compared the the myth of German superiority) reliability.
Or, it could just be a 86 redesign. I'm actually, excited about the Lexus LC500. Yeah, it a different class and fits more up against the merc SL but it's gonna have some power behind it and the reliability / cost of ownership will outclass that of the SL 500 most assuredly.

[QUOTE=Pelicans;1593697814]Ford calls it "360 view", and Toyota calls it "Birds eye view" and GM doesn't even have a name for it."
We have it on our CT6 (GM car, and I'd guess it's on other GM cars too). I don't care what they (GM) name it. If they add it to the C7 (like they did the front cameras), that will be nice.
"What the C7 Corvette has for visual position/location feedback (if you paid the extra dollars for the option are two cameras on the front grill which have an arcane interface and don't always work when you are parking,"
Mine always work, and work well. If you really own a C7 and the front cameras don't always come on, there is any easy way to turn them on. Read the manual.
" and a rear view camera which does work (but is placed too near the exhaust)."
We've had two C7s, and the view from the rear camera is very good.
"And unlike the Honda turn signal cameras (placed on the underside of the side mirrors) which give you a nice side view of the lane you are moving into, and eliminate blind spots (given the miniature side view mirrors that are more design than function on the C7."
Not if you adjust them correctly.
"The PDR (personal data recorder) is a fuzzy, out of focus flop, which they ignore and refuse to acknowledge the complaints from their customers."
Ours works great - on both C7s. Maybe you should have opted for the Performance Data Recorder.
", the balance of there camera based information systems have no design influence with the C7 or each other".
Huh??

If those higher quality cams from other car makers are a must-have priority for you, why didn't you vote with your dollars and buy the competing sports car from Ford, Toyota, or Honda?
That's what a reasonable person would do.

You should seriously consider buying a Toyota to impress your friends when you park at the mall with the birds eye view. My buddy has a Ford F-150 with the 360 view as well. A pickup would be good for you too.
