Yea...most accusatory people that say "midlife crisis" will also try to tell you that they know the size of your male appendage.
I usually don't acknowledge their existence nor their comment. If they push me about it, I just tell them that I work 3 jobs, many times 7 days a week to save for this car. Years and years of hard work usually shuts them up.

Simple... I've driven sports and classic cars all my life... no one has ever said such BS to me.

Mid life
growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. At 73 and a wife of 35 yrs. at 56, with a 2018 vette between us I hope my mid life crisses never stops! All corvettes are red!

I bought my first Corvette, a 2000 convertible, when I was 49. That was not a mid-life crisis, it was a wake-up call. I bought my second Corvette, a 2016 Z06, this summer; now that might be an old-age crisis!

I bought my 1st Vette, C5, when I was 42 when I could afford it, got some mid life crisis questions. Not really sure what they were referring to and not really caring, polite responses, but thinking it was odd to ask someone a question like that. C7 came at age 52, again when I could afford it, again more of the same questions, Magnum PI was mentioned for ridicule once... which I responded that I've always wanted a vette and there was nothing to overthink, only a car
Baffled by the questions, I googled the definition of mid life crisis. I think my entire life would fit the definition of a mid life crisis....

Driving my tenth Corvette at 71, Purchase my first one at 35, Guess I've had ten mid life crisis, People who says or ask the question probably want one but can't afford it or the wife won't let them buy one.

About the only one who has called my corvette a mid life crisis is my wife, which I found rather funny. I had a corvette when we started dating, and I wasn't even 30 years old.
I bought my first Corvette in 1986, at 24 years old a 1980 C3. I owned that car until 2017. I have owned a few other C3's during that time frame.
When I say the 2014 Stingray I had to have it. My wife said it was a mid life crisis, and I laughed due to dating in a Corvette, and owning one or more the whole time we have been married. I took delivery of it just before I turned 50.
I traded it for a grand sport this spring. But for me, not mid life, I have owned one since 24 years old

I turned 80 ( that's 80 years old ) November 2, 2018. I have owned 35 "toy" cars. They have all been show quality and often been entered in car shows. Every one had internal combustion engines and one small battery whose main purpose was to start the engine. My 70 plus year young wife and I actually enjoy taking our cars on vacations so we can DRIVE them. We sold our Ferrari 458 in March 2018. Our new 2019 C7 arrived at the local Chevy store two days ago and we pick it up tomorrow.

If they are not a real car enthusiast then you can count on something stupid being said that they think is funny/cute.

Bought my 93 6spd vert in 01 at the age of 23. So it wasnt a midlife crisis car. I got the model that was new when i was 16 (and dreamed about).
it was tough getting wavebacks from the then new c5 community, Saw a lot of trash talk on c4 - mostly golf course types frustrated with maintenance or the tight confines/ tough egress/ingress of the car.
the trash talk among generations really turned me off to the corvette brand,
fast forward to age 41, ive got a wife that hates her job/ doesnt like to work, 2 kids. My midlife crisis is running. Its the perfect escape.
i have been having a lot of fun working out, getting in shape, running races. Thats my midlife crisis.

Mid life-no...late life yes
I got my current ZO6 a little after I turned 70. Not a mid life (or late life) crisis...but a late life delight! Had my first Vette when I was in high school, and many since then!

I got the, "Mid-life crisis?", question from one of my female customers a couple of months ago when I got my Z06. Her husband didn't say anything. I couldn't come back at her with a wisecrack comment since she is a customer. Then a week or so later the same customer made another comment that they were glad that they were able to help pay for the car or something along those lines. SMH. I never had anyone say anything to me about the previous two Vettes but maybe that was because I was in my early 30s back then & I'm 49 now.

Being on the younger end of the spectrum, i do not get the mid life crisis streotypical comment however i do get the "Your parents bought that for you?"
Honestly if you hear either of those two comments it most likely equates to jealously. Doesnt bother me. I usually reply with "God i wish"

As long as you don't experience a money crisis from what the C7 takes to own, there is NO crisis.
