"Mid Life Crisis" accusations?

Well, I have a canned response when I get the mid-life accusation.
First: It's not a mid-life crisis because I am 60...so unless I'm going to live to be 120, I'm past "mid-life".
Second: My first sports car was a Triumph TR3, when I was 19. Since then, I've owned in no particular order:
5 Corvettes
2 Nissan 300ZX's
3 Triumphs (hey, this British car sucks....let me buy a different one, I'm sure it will be better. It sure was great being young and optimistic)
3 Mazda RX-7's

Never had an issue. If I did I would just tell them to mind their own business..

There are a lot worse stereotypes out there. Many that say that are jeleous they don't have a C7.

When I got my C6 (@43), a guy at work came up to me 'in a small crowd' and said " You know what they say about guys with big sports cars .. they have ...", I turned and looked at him and said .. "Its a lot smaller than the soccer mom van your driving" .. wow did I get a lot of laughs !!, and did he ever turn

My GS is my first Corvette and I've been wanting one since before I could drive. At the age of 45, I am finally in a position financially to afford one. I joke around with my friends and say I'm going through a mid-life crisis so it's either a Corvette or an affair. And guess which one is way cheaper? That usually gets a laugh.

I think I have a great answer for someone questioning me deciding to buy a new Corvette at age 51.
I'll just say that it was a lot cheaper than getting married again. LOL!
P.S. Unlike a wife, my Corvette won't care if I look at (or even drive) another Corvette. That must be factored into the equation.

Yeah, I've had mid-life crisis since I was teenager... or maybe I just like cars... a lot.

I hear it sometimes, I just agree with them and move on. Self deprecating humor works like a charm. I don't care what others think about my car.

I've posted this before, but here goes again:
The "mid-life crisis" is a bogus concept invented by effete liberal psychologists and believed in by women. It doesn't exist. The truth is that mid-life is when most men, after building careers, raising families, paying off mortgages and college tuitions for their kids, after reaching a station in life where it's possible to do so, are finally able to act upon dreams deferred by other things. That's it.
Everything else is BS.

Mid Life Crisis!
Well, I lost my trophy wife of 49 years late last year, traded my yellow GS for this. Not sure about the mid Life Crisis part though, I'm 71 and have owned several dozen great cars over the years to include several nice Vettes. Think I'd ask him if he knows where his wife is today!! lol

My mid-life crisis happened so long ago I can barely remember it.

It is no secret that the majority of new Corvette purchases are made by men in their 50's and 60's. Many times we are typecast as having a "Mid Life Crisis" for purchasing a Corvette!
I was accused of this at the dealership where I purchased my latest new Corvette a couple of months ago. Some guy about my age, approaches me at the dealership as I was checking out my soon to be purchase. He said to me, " Mid Life Crisis eh"? Not to be bothered with explaining myself, I just smiled and said, "Yeah right". Little did this guy know that this Corvette was my 35th Corvette since I was 18 years old. I have had Corvettes in my teens, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and now 60's. Hardly a Mid Life Crisis, but rather a life long passion!
Just curious for those of you who are 50+ of age...Have you too been accused of having a "Mid Life Crisis" for your Corvette purchase?

Oh, yes. I heard the "Mid-life crisis" comment many times at age 50 when I started driving/racing this......... so many of my clients were quite shocked I was doing this.

I don't get the mid life crisis comments too much, instead I get the "You must be rich" comments instead. I'm 41, wanted a Vette my whole life, worked my *** off and bought one! They can all kiss my a$$!
