Prices in the toilet
Just for s**ts and giggles, I've been checking out used and new pricing on C7's online and I can;t believe how cheap they are now. Whats up with that. I was considering trading up for a GS or a Z but I'll lose way to much on my 2015 now.

Since I buy cars to drive, and generally keep for a while, I do not pay any attention to depreciation since I've known for more than 60 years that cars are depreciating assets.
Buy'em, enjoy 'em..... life's too short to say, "Oh, it'll be $2,000 less if I wait six months." If $2,000 is separating you from owning a Corvette you likely can't afford it anyway.
And too, you may well be dead in six months...."

My 2015 Z51 vert cost me a pretty penny, but now....sheesh. This car is my one and only Corvette, so no trades for me. I plan on driving it for many happy years. At least I HOPE...LOL

Sounds like your 2015 is overloaded on options with little or no return. Based on Kelly Blue Book, there is only a spread of around $2,000 between a loaded 2014 and a low optioned base model. Remember it is Winter and sales are down.

For the 2016 MY, 40,689 of them were built! Many new '16's are still left on dealers lots and it is now Winter. Huge discounts, with Bonus Tags, incentives are offered and some dealers are actually taking a loss to sell them. I have heard of some discounts up to 25% off on left over '16's. Also, the '17's are also being discounted quite heavily. This is why the used C7 values are "in the toilet" Great time to be a buyer for a new Corvette providing that you are not trading in your's!
Funny how 3 short years ago, if you got any discount at all...it was considered a good deal!

I read earlier this week that GM has a huge inventory of unsold vehicles across their full line and that they will furlough several plants until the inventory is consumed. One of those plants was located in Kentucky - I'm just guessing that it is Bowling Green.

I got mine in March of this year, got $5,600 off msrp and that was a "screaming deal" in my area in CA at the time. Now I see new C7s going for $43,498, granted those are the base manual models but still .

Yep, the highly optioned cars loose the most value. I only buy options I want and do NOT count on recouping much when I trade or sell.

Winter is the "off season" for Corvette sales. Prices will rebound some in the spring. End of year inventory reduction is also in effect. Happens every year.

Yep, prices are relative. Discounted prices on new cars drops the price of used cars that drives the price of trade-in's down.

these threads are hard for me to read.
I just bought a certified pre-owned 2016 z51 3lt convertible with a8 and mag ride with 2500 miles.. paid $58,800. About 25% off sticker price.
was that a really bad deal ?

No, it was a fair deal if it was the car you wanted. "New" 2016 models are being discounted up to about 23% by some dealers who have cars sitting on their lots.

I traded in my 2014 Z51 Vert back in August for my GS ... I think I traded it just in time .. I can't even imagine what a dealer would offer for it now as a trade since they probably wouldn't really want it.

A dealer in my area is taking 20% off MSRP all in stock 2017 C7'S and 15% off all orders is that cheap enough and don't forget about the 2000 Corvette loyalty program.

That was a part of it, perhaps a bigger part is that if you are particular about what you want it gets harder to find a car you like. If you want a stick you're eliminating 65% of the possible used cars. So it's not so easy.
I think what happens is a new Corvette comes out, it's a hot car for a few years, then like this year, the 4th model year comes around and GM introduces the Grand Sport to spur buyer interest, but by December the cars are piling up until they hopefully start to move again in March/April. So my timing was right I suppose, but I really would have preferred getting a rational deal on a used C7. I saw reasonably priced cars - but they were all in dealers from Michigan to California, i.e., just too far for me to make a deal involving my trade.
Happy with the new car and all, but that's why I didn't go late model used. Look, if somebody can afford to pay $45K-$55k for a used one they probably can afford $55K-$65K+ for s new one, and if they don't get a big enough discount for going used it's actually easier to buy it new.

You have such a poetic way with words, hard to imagine you could get put on a "vacation" here.

After shopping for a late model used C7 for a couple of months I finally threw in the towel and bought new earlier this week. The used ones here in the northeast (I live in the NY area) were all stupidly overpriced compared to what the dealers are selling new cars for. If I can buy a new 2017 Z51 2LT stick with Nave for like $63K out the door (or less) and get strong money for my trade, why does anyone think their 2015 with 9K miles is really worth $53K? I'd have to pay $48K or less for that to make sense to me.
That was a part of it, perhaps a bigger part is that if you are particular about what you want it gets harder to find a car you like. If you want a stick you're eliminating 65% of the possible used cars. So it's not so easy.
