This Corvette #26 for me. Started in 1976 bought a 1967 427 convertible when I was 18 years old for $3,700. Then I had 3 1969's, 1974, 2 1978's. In 1982 at age 24 I bought my first brand new Corvette 1982. Two years later the 1984 came out and I bought a new one. I ended up buying 11 C4's from 1984-1996. I had 4 C5's 1 C6, and two C7's. Also when I had my 2001 I also bought a second Corvette a 1975 convertible which I owned for 5 years.
So for me I have always owned a Corvette since I was 18 years old and next Friday I will be 59.

I could have bought one long ago but hauling the wife and kids around in one would have been a bit difficult.

I love how skewed this board is. "Not too expensive"? Older gents?

I guess we all just like to browse the forums
80k not alot compared to Porsche, m6, s class etc... but very true I have met alot of friendly vette owners and brings great conversation at the country club...
Guess I'm the rightful old age of 31...
And your comment on " not that expensive to buy" is wrong. I ordered my car and fully loaded top trim, was 80k.
Everyone has different reasons for waiting or not, but that's not a bad thing. I've met some of the nicest, most friendly people in the world thanks to my Corvette hobby. I don't give a rats *** about their age, they have something in common with me and are down to earth, hard working people.

"In honor of jpee"
Maybe because some people want different things???? Maybe some consider a "sporty" model can also be a "piece of transportation?"
I just looked very closely at a Costco display model of the new Honda Civic four door hatchback for an MSRP of $21.3K incl. auto trans, a/c, destination. That means, less if negotiated.
You say Corvette's not too expensive? Compared to what? $55K vs. <$20K sounds like big money difference.

I guess I'm in the younger crowd at 31 and I got my Corvette brand new last year. This is my first one and is definitely the most expensive car I've ever owned. I also plan on purchasing a C8 as long as the price is right and they offer a manual. It is definitely fun to drive and has the right amount of power for the price.
Most people in my age group buy cars that are practical and less expensive because of their income. The ones that do have the money just buy flashy luxury cars mainly because of the status symbol. The Corvette has it's own status symbol of course, but I think it's more respected by car enthusiasts.

I am 72 years old. The reason I am driving a C7 now, instead of when I was 30, is because during my younger years, my motivation was making a living to raise my family. Now that they are all grown adults with their own families, I have some financial security to afford to drive my C7.

We bought our first Corvette, a new 1976 when we were both n30 years old. We have bought umpteen new ones since then and in our retirement are enjoying our C7 Z51 Coupe.

I've had Vettes most of the time since I was in my early 20s. Guess I'm now one of the "older" folks, if you're only in your 30s.

There are a couple age survey threads on this forum. I think that you'd be surprised that "age" might not be so stereotypical; particularly with the C7 gen.
