LOL, hey, I resemble that remark! For me it is actually more of a practicality argument than anything else. I have had a few nice cars along the line, but they were always 4WD so I could drive them to work in a MN winter. This is the first car I have ever had that is sitting out the winter. My wife is helping by driving her truck and letting me have the SUV. But not something I would probably have done if I was not a couple years from retiring . . .

No offense but why is it that only "older" gents drive c7s?

I am 72 years old. The reason I am driving a C7 now, instead of when I was 30, is because during my younger years, my motivation was making a living to raise my family. Now that they are all grown adults with their own families, I have some financial security to afford to drive my C7.

When I was younger my priorities were pretty typical. Buy a house, save for retirement, save for education of children, etc. I wasn't going to buy something at the time that was expensive and impractical considering my priorities.
Now that's out of the way I can afford something.....impractical and expensive.

We are established and can pay $80K cash and truly afford the car. Very simple really.

Default No offense but why is it that only "older" gents drive c7s?

Older than what? 20, 30 35? Define "older". While the price of a C7 is a "awesome bang for the buck" (my words no one else s) purchase, it is still "relative". Maybe it has to do with what are my priorities; college, family, house, expendable income????

Guess I'm the rightful old age of 31...

And your comment on " not that expensive to buy" is wrong. I ordered my car and fully loaded top trim, was 80k.

Everyone has different reasons for waiting or not, but that's not a bad thing. I've met some of the nicest, most friendly people in the world thanks to my Corvette hobby. I don't give a rats *** about their age, they have something in common with me and are down to earth, hard working people.

My Z06 cost 103K
Paid cash. Maybe the youth of today can't save their money or just don't have that much. When I was in my 20's my first house cost 110K

Besides having more money to buy one, I subscribe to the fact that you get smarter/wiser as you get older and that contributes in my opinion to getting a vette-best bang for the dollar and at my age (68) who cares about a "prestigious" pedigree such as a Benz or BMW.

Mostly we can afford them and don't have to worry about hauling kids around. I know I wanted a Corvette when I was much younger but had other financial commitments that took priority over driving a Corvette.

Signed the papers for mine at 29. Just have to prioritize what you want. Also, I traded up from a C5 that I bought at 26.

Hmmm...I just learned something. All this time I thought that C7 buyers were a mix of people of all ages.

I'd wager that $80k is a lot of money in 90% of the population's mind. It's more than most have in their retirement account if the articles I've read are true. To have that kind of disposable income at an early age, consider yourself very lucky!

I’m 70. Bought my first vette (a used ’61) right out of high school. I had a Porsche 911 and few other performance cars in my younger years but then a wife, mortgage & kids forced me into ‘sensible’ cars. Now I can drive whatever car I want.

The ‘old guy’ image is real. Since there are so many older owners, they aren’t that desirable to a lot of young buyers. I know cost is an issue but you don’t see a lot of younger buyers buying affordable used Corvettes either.
